Whenever I’m around family, it’s like I revert back to an old version of myself. They treat me like I haven’t grown or changed, and it’s frustrating. I’ve worked hard on myself, but they don’t seem to see it. Has anyone managed to break out of this dynamic without causing tension?
What do you do when your family only sees the version of you from years ago?

Instead of trying to convince them you’ve changed, just consistently act like the version of you that you are now. Speak up differently. Set boundaries calmly. Make your own choices, even if they push back.
