What do you think about Minnesota’s take on Trump derangement syndrome?

r/

Republicans in Minnesota have pushed a bill to classify Trump derangement syndrome as a mental illness. The definition is ”the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal persons that is in reaction to the policies and presidencies of (Trump.)”. Supposedly one could be forcebly comitted for this.

Reddit would lose 50%+ of its use base, but if it gave people the help they desperately need then it cannot be a bad thing.

Well, it’s not the state of Minnesota’s take. It’s five Republicans in the Minnesota Congress. That’s a big difference.

I think it’s obviously a piece of political rhetoric, not a bill they expect to pass. And as such, I think it is quite funny.

From the subject, I thought it was describing a malady afflicting the president.

Political theater/rhetoric which for the record I am opposed to. Unless it is funny, which this isn’t, in my opinion.

Political sectarianism creates conditions that severely undermine mental well-being and increase the risk of diagnosable mental illnesses. Therefore, while not a mental illness itself, political sectarianism generates a toxic environment that significantly damages mental health.

    Didn’t take it serious.

    Should serve their constituents instead

I think everyone is being a little too serious about this. When you’re the minority, you can’t really do much for your constituents anyway. This is a pointless bill that won’t pass, but it’s pretty funny.

I hadn’t heard about it but that sounds like a waste of time and money. The right has a MASSIVE political tailwind right now, we should be using it to do things that actually matter

I think the term is a waste of time. The man is the elected president and there’s literally nothing that we can do about it. Does he make me crazy sometimes yeah but I wouldn’t say that I was deranged. I was registered Republican for 22 years before this guy showed up. I left the Republican Party after that bullshit that happened on January 6 and I do not think that any of those people should’ve been pardoned. He does seem a little bit more peaceful this time. I fucking hate Trump, and I hate what he’s done to the Republican Party but securing the border was important to me in a broad term. I’d like to cut the fat, but I don’t like the way that it’s happening and I don’t like Elon Musk. I’m not deranged and I’m only slightly conservative, but I feel like when things become super unbalanced, then Balance will come back and smack you in the face. We all need to hope that younger people that are more in touch with the world that we’re living in at present time will run for office and we’ll have some new citizens to vote for at some point. I am registered as independent right now, but I’m waiting for something that looks like reality to come back to the fore. I didn’t love Kamala Harris, but her résumé was sound and I voted for her. As a former member of the Republican Party, I voted for her because I don’t like Trump and I am not the only one. I have a lot of friends and clients who are literal party liners and they don’t like him either. I do have some amazingly wealthy clients and they voted for him because he’s going to give them even more wealth. I’m a working class girl and I don’t really love the left, or the right. I feel like the majority of the people that live in this country have no voice. It’s some stupid bullshit news extravaganza that is basically just sending people into an early mental grave. We are being manipulated… There is no doubt.
