Budget and employment cuts are hitting care for veterans. As a supporter of veterans, I find this painful for the veteran community and did not expect this from the current administration. Thoughts?

It wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if done correctly. There are too many people getting full VA benefits who should not be getting full benefits, and that’s a lot of money.
Take all the money for the VA and let the Vets choose their own doctors free of charge

I think that it’s insane that the VA has 482,000 employees. That’s a VA employee for every 12 veterans receiving benefits. So far, Trump has cut 1000 jobs.
I am surprised it took this long.

The question you should be asking is “Why have the hundreds of billions of dollars thrown at the VA over the last 4 years done nothing to actually help veterans?”
Edit: They hired tens of thousands of employees, but it still takes 6 months for me to see a specialist. There’s a lot more phone menus to go through to make an appointment though, so “success”?

What cuts? To date no cuts have been made to any services. A few probationary employees have been cut but considering that the VA has 412,892 employees and a $112 Billion Budget you can’t make me believe that there isn’t some fat to cut.
I’d rather the VA be abolished so I could go to the doctors I want. The VA has given me shit care. I only use the VA for very few things.
