When I subscribed to YouTube Premium, I honestly felt a bit like I was stepping into a new world. The absence of ads made the whole experience so much smoother, especially when I was binge-watching a series of vlogs during a long train ride. It’s wild to think about how many people might jump on that bandwagon, but if everyone did, it would definitely change the game for creators and the platform itself.

If every user suddenly went for a paid subscription, YouTube would probably have to rethink their ad revenue model. They might focus more on sponsored content or partner with brands in creative ways, allowing creators to still monetize their work without interrupting the viewing experience. It could be a win-win, but it would definitely require some innovation from both YouTube and content creators.

After about a month of this, they would start pushing ads in little droplets even to subscribers, then raise in frequency, and offer tiers of subscription service for various degrees of adless watching. They would make the current price the mid-range tier, and make truly ad-free service more expensive.

If everyone was paying they wouldn’t need the ad revenue.

And then maybe go the way of video streaming services. Add ads to the low tier plan after everyone acclimates to paying for premium.

It would be just like any other streaming service without ads. Netflix, etc

If every user buys a subscription, they will raise the price of a subscription, then introduce a “less ads” subscription

  7. Spsurgeon Avatar

Content creators are now embedding ads in their videos.

EVERY regular youtube user paying a subscription at the actual cost would elevate the networth of the company to start mining asteroids in my opinion.

  9. nitsbits Avatar

If that happens they will introduce: “Acceptable ads” and may be remove free access like Netflix or other ott platforms. A new tire will be introduced and current premium will have some ads.

They’ll double down on the ads.

Then they just go the Hulu route and add some ads to the subscription anyway while adding another, more expensive tier without ads. Capitalism my dear Watson.

The point of subscriptions is that they generate more revenue for YouTube than ads do.

    Google adsense generates pennies.

So everyone buying a paid subscriptions would probably make everyone in charge of YouTube simultaneously climax

The ads annoy you and give Google pennies, so you pay for the sub and they make more to stop annoying you.

What if 2-3 billion people started paying YouTube $10 a month . With 30 billion in revenue I think they won’t need advertising

  14. oudcedar Avatar

Yes, definitely. Ask Netflix and Prime who annoyed the hell out of me when they put adverts in despite the monthly payment. But I haven’t found any way to stop my Prime Video subscription without losing all my Amazon ordering history and login.

They can double the profit by adjusting the terms afterwards. Adds any way.
