It’s easy to say any kind of real human interaction but it also ruined the idea that people have a sense of autonomy and don’t just do whatever gets attention
YouTubers who make videos on things that not problems and try make them problems, also them going after things and people who doing nothing actually wrong just being a alive and doing same shit there doing but different content then make a shit excuse
I am over fifty and only on reddit. Never been on any other platform. I’m here for the jokes. I am so sorry for all the 15-25 year olds who have to grow up in this world. Genuinely.
Actual camaraderie. Who wants to be on a date who’s glued to her phone? Or out with friends who are scrolling through social media? Social media has its purpose, but it is not meant to be a distraction from living an actual life.
Everyone became a fake narcissist faking their lives to impress people and portraying a version of themselves that isn’t aligned with reality of who they really are.
Social media has ruined the way people connect in a very large way, while subsequently disconnecting people from themselves.
Many know not who they are, only who they believe society wants to see them as, who they “should” be seen with or not be seen with, bandwagoning just to fit in and more.
Considering that over half of internet traffic is largely fake and bots, do you even know if you’re truly engaging with a person?
It has also destroyed privacy, exacerbated isolation, and made people afraid of each other.
People are obsessed with followers counts vs real human connection which devalues people in many ways or causes a skewed worldview, leading to poor social skills.
That leads to being extremely materialistic and only associating with people on a transactional basis on what someone has or doesn’t have vs their core values as a human being, and how they can make your life more inclusive and joyful.
On the positive side, you can stay in touch with family you never talk to anyway. Woo!
Went to a concert recently, and it felt like everyone was filming for a reality show. Phones everywhere, people trying to get that perfect story shot. Problem is, I’m not tall, so I spent the whole time staring at a sea of hands and glowing screens. The best part? Half the crowd was more focused on getting a video for their Insta story than actually enjoying the music. Social media’s definitely ruined real moments – people forget to live in the moment when they’re too busy trying to capture it
Gen Alpha. Like teens are always going to have things that are popular and odd slang but the brain rot shizz is just too much and it spreads SO fast. They don’t even know what half of it means but they’ll yell it anyway.
EVERYTHING. I’m older than the Public-Facing Internet, and despite my High Hopes for the potential of the “World Wide Web,” I am disappointed at the result.
When I was a kid, me and my sister used to get juiced when we would catch our favorite infomercial on the television. Shout out to Ron Popiel and the Showtime Rotisserie. YouTube is nothing more than shorter, less interesting infomercials disguised as original quality content all under a veil of narcissism and main character syndrome.
Its happily ruined my long term Dating life to short term sexual toy for whoever treats me the worst sometimes it’s like the only thing I feel is rejection on an app. I can’t feel anything else. Just took the fun out of going out at night.
Treks. I went to a trek that social media has made very famous. At the base camp we couldn’t see the ground, only tents were there.
People were just partying there. Social media has totally ruined the meaning of treks for sure
anxiety in middle school/high school children, you can’t escape or relax from the drama from the school day when you go home, everyone goes online after school

I especially hate instagram the most for some reason. A man sent me an instagram reel and I saw upon opening it that he has a god damn mirror selfie. 40 years old. I got the ick. Lmao
