What helps you feel like you’ve got a good grip on your life?

r/

I’m not perfect and have some weeks better than others but some things that consistently help me weeks go better:

  • meal planning. Meal prepping is a bonus but just already knowing what I’m making for dinner or lunch helps the week go smooth.

  • daily 20 minute tidy. Doesn’t matter how messy the place is or isn’t, if I have a set time I can just power through and then stop when the times up. I usually choose a 20 min long podcast.

  • plan a social activity whether it’s a date with my husband or meeting a friend for a walk. I find having something social just helps me look forward to something.

What things help you?

20 minute tidy is such a good idea! Meal planning helps me too.

I recently started to NOT check my phone for a while every day. I changed my best friends’ ringtone different than the others’. If I hear them, I check the phone. If I don’t, I leave it sometimes. Like today I was taking a shower and had self-maintenance stuff to do. I left the phone away so it felt more like a relaxing ‘me time’ than a chore.

My hour of cardio five days a week keeps my energy levels up.

My ten minutes of strength training and yoga five times a week makes me feel like I’m doing something to keep my muscles from wasting away.

Meal prepping definitely saves me so much time and mental energy. It also keeps me from fast food too often.

Seeing the deed to our house and the titles to all of our vehicles. Just a few hundred thousand dollars worth of paper in your hand, no big deal

Transferring money into my savings account every month. I’ve got some big financial goals for the next year and thankfully have been able to make some big deposits lately. It also comes with a decent amount of stress, though. Last time I had almost reached a big savings goal, I lost my job and it took months to find another one, wiping out my savings entirely.

I understand my ebbs and flows, accept them, and work with them when unexpected things arise or problems with plans come up. I’m very good at solution finding and going with the flow.
