Currently a few months into a 12 months masters thesis program. I’m studying from a neighbouring town in NZ, so all our meetings have been online. I’ve never meet my superiors in person but took a paper in my last undergraduate year with him so have known him a year or so.
I’m in his town where the uni is next week so reached out for an in person meeting.
He’s come back saying his kids have a teacher only day but that he could meet for an off campus coffee and bring his kids. Then he said he’d buy me a coffee to make up for it.
I’m not sure if this is normal with a supervisor? Feels rather informal, and I’ve never met him in person, only ever over a video chat.
Im a slightly older student, 24 almost 25 for context and study subject is in the social sciences.
