What is something you added to your room that you still love/use today?

This is such a small thing but I got an oval trinket dish to put my glasses on for my bedside table. I used to just leave them on the table when I went to sleep, then would have to fumble for them in the morning. Sometimes I’d knock them off, or accidentally touch the lenses and get fingerprints on them. Very minor irritations but not an ideal way to start the day. Just having a designated spot for them has made such an outsized impact on me. Every time I set them on the dish I smile and marvel at how convenient it is.
Star light projector as a night light 😊 I’m not afraid of the dark. I just really like neat lights.
An orchid plant with white ethereal flowers. Instantly uplifting.
A humidifier. I love how it makes my skin look even better.
A room divider between my bed and the window. (I have them all parallel). It’s not totally opaque; it’s the IKEA one with white plastic rectangles. But it’s enough to keep the bright sunlight out of my eyes in the morning.
Smart bulbs in the side table lamps, they automatically go on at 10pm and our phones/google home can turn them off. It’s the best when I’m comfy and don’t need to move to turn lights off.

Clothes hangers in many different colors forming a rainbow.
Cute coat hooks for the wall.
I hang things i tend to wear a few times before washing them (hoodies, house clothes, etc)
A large, good quality humidifier. I live in a very dry elevated area and it’s changed my quality of sleep and my skin doesn’t feel so tight in the morning.
A rotating, color-changing lamp. It creates an unique ambiance because its light projects onto the walls as moving waves. It’s gorgeous and the best 25$ purchase I’ve ever made.
Floor to ceiling shelves back when using the black pipe from hardware store was popular. My dad helped put everything together
Rainbow stained glass film
The tint on the bedroom windows were peeling off and I was looking for a cheap alternative. I saw the rainbow film all over TikTok and bought it on a flash sale on Amazon. It was so easy to apply and it brings so much brightness and color to the room. My husband hates it because now he can’t spy on our neighbors lol
So I guess this can fall under useful but it is largely sentimental as well.
When I was growing up my gran had a deacon’s bench in her dining room. And it wasn’t just any deacon’s bench, it was the deacon’s bench from the church she grew up in.
That bench was a key player in a lot of my imaginative endeavors when I was staying at her house. And Ashley as this may sound I held a lot of affection for that bench.
When my gran decided she needed to downsize some things the bench went to my mom. And my mom didn’t take care of it as well as she should have; she actually left it outside for a while. So it lost its glossy honey colored varnish. But I still loved it.
And when I moved away for my first job after school I asked her if I could take it and she said yes.
So it’s been a fixture in every place that I’ve lived since 2011. In my first post school apartment the only place for it I had was in the living room but since then it’s always been in the bedroom.
It’s always been my desire to get it restored but that money just never been in my budget.
I have his & hers closets and have no him, so I turned that side into “corporate closet”. I mounted an external monitor and have a small desk for my laptop, and a small shelving unit to store documents, notebooks, supplies etc. I also hung up some of the hideous and cringey “dog mom” crap I’ve received over the years as gifts from family whose only effort to know me as a person was to observe that I have a dog.
I like that I can close the curtain at the end of the day and am not taunted by my bulky work equipment and have reclaimed the actual desk in my room (quarter turn in my chair from corporate closet) for journaling, creative pursuits, personal and family admin stuff, and skincare & makeup.
Tv. I always hear about those classy people with no tv in the bedroom. I have never had a bedroom without a tv and I never will. It’s my favorite thing- laying in bed and watching tv lol
A really big humidifier. I only have to fill it every 3 days
Facetious answer: my husband!
Serious answer: An air purifier. I let it run for a few hours every day and it does a great job at keeping the dust down and making everything feel cleaner
I have another organiser in my kitchen in the pantry for cleaning supplies.
Hammock swing
Flamingo wall paper and my plants. And my giant oversized gold velvet comforter.
