What is the best gift for a man in his early 30s?

r/

I need ideas ASAP.

Also make sure it’s not too expensive.

I have no idea what he likes.

Buying gifts for men is just so hard. What do you like to get?

    A nice multitool leatherman.

Lasertag, Gokart… Something like that? Voucher for two rounds.

A secrid wallet, or a nice watch depending on his style. Wife got me a Citizen Eco drive, the solar powered one as a watch to wear at work (silver metal band). Was nice

We don’t need crap. I always ask my spouse to just cook something for me

A nice expensive bottle of bourbon

    I like experiences over gifts.

Accessorize his hobby/hobbies. My wife is great at that. I bought a mountain bike, she got me some shorts, gloves, and a whistle for Father’s Day. I bought a fishing pole (something I never did as a kid), she got me a bunch of random lures, extra line, etc. Just little thoughtful things that enhance my experience or make it more comfortable.

Also, experiences are good gifts. Concerts, comedy shows, sporting events. Those are always a hit with me too.

Bottle of his favorite type of alcohol

    Cool pocket knife

    Favorite sports team shirt/hoodie

I like cash or a gift card to a hardware store.

Why are you buying a gift for someone who you don’t know?

  11. NickiChaos Avatar

If he wears dress shirts for work a lot, a set of metal collar stays would be something he would appreciate every day.

    Massage giftcard

  13. FistThePooper6969 Avatar

Something related to one of his hobbies?

  14. D1ckH3ad4sshole Avatar

Don’t buy him a toilet plunger. That would suck.

  15. Illustrious-End4657 Avatar

How could we possibly know since you gave no info. Men aren’t a monolith.

  16. Bohottie Avatar

Every guy is different. There arent really too many universal good gifts. People have mentioned watches, but not every guy is a watch guy. If you haven’t seen him with a certain category of object, don’t get that for him. You don’t know what to get your own brother? You’d know best out of anyone.

  17. Snurgisdr Avatar

Not a thing from anybody who would think of me as ‘generic man in his 30s’.

  18. OkCar7264 Avatar

Could you provide a single detail about him first? Like a single thing besides that he has a dong?

A generic gift card for the total stranger would be appropriate given the total lack of anything.

  19. XdraketungstenX Avatar

If he’s married with kids, he wants peace and quiet.

  20. SamuraiGoblin Avatar

Tooooooooools. Doesn’t have to be expensive. Recently my wife got me a little screwdriver set keychain. A bit like this. Love it!

  21. Food-in-Mouth Avatar

    Have you asked him?

  22. Expensive-Tart-514 Avatar

Leatherman, blowjobs, steak dinner, nice lunch box, etc

  23. DLD1123 Avatar

Oh don’t worry too much about it. Our desires jump from pointless thing to pointless thing as we thrash around trying to find purpose and separating ourselves from the inevitability of aging. Get him a sick green laser pointer off Amazon. They’re like $30

  24. Bibileiver Avatar

    What, we’re all the same?

I don’t like any of these comments, for example. I prefer to get no gift if you don’t know what I like haha

Try and find out what he likes.

  25. Gagan_Ku2905 Avatar

Beer Pack, most of us in early 30s own everything we need, what we want is generally expensive for us. Porsche, Patek Phillippe, etc.

  26. jettech737 Avatar

Gift card that can be spent anywhere. I’m a difficult person to buy gifts for so I try to tell people to not worry about one but if someone insists then a gift card works fine.

  27. TexasGrillDaddyAK-15 Avatar

I get socks, tools, guns,.knives and underwear. I love them all. Any hint of a hobby? You have to know something.

  28. gjnbjj Avatar

    Warhammer.

    Beer.

    A good meal.

    Sex.

Honestly, most of us just want validation that we are doing the right thing. Recognition of that ia a gift in and of itself.

If he likes to barbecue, you can get him the Meat Church Ocho

If he likes hot sauces, you can do the Hot Ones variety pack

If he likes sports, you can find most everything you need at fanatics.

If he likes booze, walk around Total Wine or BevMo (if one is around) and you’ll find something fun. If you don’t know what you’re looking at, talk to the staff and they’ll get you squared away

Take him somewhere fun, stuff is overrated

Surprised nobody said smoker. They’re amazing and less than $100 if you want.

A day of go-karting with friends and/or family if you have a track within driving distance

  41. maddog2271 Avatar

To be honest, “not too expensive” is pretty subjective. Anyway. Buy him a Rolex. Hah. If you can’t afford that then figure out what kind of mechanical or decent quartz watch you can buy, and buy that. Sub-500? Timex. 500-1500? Seiko. Above that? Omega or Rolex. Problem solved.

  42. Cronenberg_Rick Avatar

Food. Snacks in bulk, beef jerky, yogurt covered pretzels, a pack of expensive steaks.

  43. Firm_Accountant2219 Avatar

Rock climbing, zip line, kayak tour. If he’s not into one of those, a bottle of bourbon or scotch is usually appreciated. If he likes to grill, get him some wood chips and a smoker box.

  44. tennoskoom_ Avatar

Shove some food in his face.

    Steak and wine would work.

  45. ShootinAllMyChisolm Avatar

A good neck tie he can wear with blue, black, gray (suit) or a white shirt. Most guys in their 30s don’t own a proper neck tie.

A real leather belt. Most of the shit now is just plastic.

  46. BeerNinjaEsq Avatar

I can’t answer for him, but I’ll answer for me:
Whiskey and whiskey related (glassware, etc)
    Watches
Cooking stuff (knives, grilling tools, cutting boards, serving stuff)
    Skiing stuff
Sports apparel (Philadelphia eagles jersey, etc)
Clothes, but I’m particular about my clothes

  47. spate42 Avatar

Retro watches are in. Depending on his wrist size, get him a Casio AQ230. They have silver or gold. I have both and love them. You can dress it up or down. And I always get complimented on it or someone asks about it.

  48. Virtual-Thought-2557 Avatar

Socks. Honestly, new socks feel amazing, even if it’s not the sexiest idea. I am never unhappy to get new socks!

  49. Far-Citron-722 Avatar

Nice underwear. And I don’t mean the sexy kind, seeing as it’s your brother. High quality, breathable, great fabric, very practical.

I remember years ago my HR manager was gushing to me and my team over Lululemon underwear she got for her boyfriend and how he loved it. We all thought it was very weird and back then Lululemon was still seeing as just a yoga pants brand and definitely not something a manly man would wear.

Fast forward a couple of years and my sister was visiting from US so my wife and I took her to a Lululemon outlet (that’s one of the brands that’s actually cheaper in Canada than US, so we knew she would stock up). I told her that story and against my objections my sister bought me a few packs of Lululemon underwear for my upcoming birthday. I was pretty happy with my athletic breathable boxers, but that was definitely a couple of steps above and I probably wouldn’t have bought them myself.

There are plenty of other brands available nowadays, I am not advocating for Lulu specifically. Just the idea that men by and large tend to see socks, underwear as functional and are loathe to spend even a bit more money for higher quality over something that just works. Not including single guys who are actively dating, but based on the age I am making a guess your brother is in a relationship

Honestly a little model car or matchbox car that he drives would be cool. I mean if he likes his car. Don’t get him like a matchbox minivan or Camry.

Pocket knives are always useful. You can’t have too many knives. I keep a knife in all my vehicles.
