I read this poem that my father sent to my mother, and I was truly moved by it (though he wasn’t the one who wrote it):
This poem I write about a pair of sandals
While thinking back on my journey through life
Though worn and old, they never walked apart
Just like us, through joy and through strife
Each takes a side, though never quite the same
Together they tread every stretch of the land
Even if scuffed, they never complain
Bound side by side, hand in hand
If one were lost someday along the way
The other could no longer go on
Try as it might, alone it’s in vain
For without its pair, its purpose is gone

Do you wanna go see Rob Zombie with me?
Her: hi
Me: that was a good line, I’m all yours.
Her: what?
Me: what?
Me: “Come here often?”
Them: “Not as often as I’d like”
My heart melted
