I guess I don’t understand what the whole point of what Trump is trying to do with Ghislaine Maxwell. OK, so they meet with her in prison, and offer her a pardon for her testimony that…what, that Trump was never involved in any of the SA activity with Epstein? I don’t understand what this is supposed to accomplish.
There’s no court proceeding, so I don’t know who she’s going to testify to. Trump is currently not under any kind of indictment for child abuse, he’s not being prosecuted, and there is no case pending. What “testimony” is she going to give, and to whom? If she were testifying in a prosecution, I suppose she could cast reasonable doubt on Trump (as far as she is credible), but there isn’t one.
While Mike Johnson could, I guess, call a special session of Congress, or some committee could convene, and subpoena Maxwell, and she could testify to them, but then, what would that accomplish? Is the whole country going to listen to her and say, “Oh wow, yeah, this pedo madam who was King Pervert Epstein’s girlfriend and is now serving time in the Gray Bars Hotel for trafficking children really has a point! I sure am glad Trump let her out of the hoosegow so she could cast doubt on his involvement! Trump is totally exonerated now!”?
And then, what, all the people who have been clamoring for the Epstein files for weeks are gonna just shrug and say “I guess we don’t need to see the papers now! Let’s just drop this. Ghislaine Maxwell in her quid-pro-quo testimony have totally convinced me. Let’s all go back to supporting Trump, who is now proven totally innocent!”?
What, exactly, is supposed to happen here?
Edit: The one thing I can imagine is that she throws out some names of Democrats and, while it doesn’t specifically exculpate Trump, it gets him out of the news and focuses on them. But I also don’t expect it to work; he’s the president, no one else is. He takes up the entire news cycle. Some no-longer-in-office Democrat(s) from a bygone era are not going to be interesting to the media.

He desperately wants this to go away and probably thinks her “confirming” he is innocent would sate his supporters. I guess we’ll see.

Get her to release a fake list that only includes the rights perceived enemies and then Trump will sit back and hope some brave pedophile hunter goes to work.
What we’re seeing is an act of absolute desperation. Robert Garcia and Summer Lee managed to get a last minute, 8-2 vote to subpoena the DOJ for the files. And frankly, the only people the testimony will completely are the people who are ultimately okay with sexual assault (look up Azalea Banks). These are NOT the people we want any association. Plus if he does go through with it, anyone named has the right to a defense, thus deposition and discovery. Also understand that MAGA has been slowly eroding for the past 6 months. This is a major schism, because this WAS the goal for many.
He’s going to have her name Democrats who can do nothing about it but sue her, and then he’s going to pardon her, because she’s his longtime friend and he wanted to do this all along. He hates her victims for what they did to her and Epstein and him, and he will pardon her strictly as a fuck you to the women they abused to teach them one final lesson about what happens when you try to get justice against powerful people.
They think their base is stupid enough to swallow whatever they say whole without question, so they just keep shoveling more and more out. That’s the plan, and it’s only recently stopped working after about a decade of getting away with it.
I think he’s been used up absolute obedience and he expects it here as well. Anytime there is an issue he either throws out a distraction or lies or both and the base updates to repeat his knew understanding of the world and moves on.
My feeling is that it will work for core MAGA. However he has a separate base of voters that isn’t actually a solid base. The low information, burn it down, both sides sucks people. A lot of them are part of the podcast bro world or TikTok vibes world.
Those people barely pay attention and they only pay attention to simple stuff. A kid of twitter being cringe, trans kids playing sports, covid restrictions, homeless people in San Francisco and other things like that are what they care about when they care. And they apparently really care about Epstein. They care about the elites getting away with things but not when it’s complicated so they can follow the narrative.
Right now it’s not working on them. Which kind of makes sense. Unlike core MAGA who voted for Trump because they like what he’s doing they voted, foolishly in our opinion, because of vibes.
Notice that the worst parts of the Trump immigration policy was already getting criticized by some of their content creators. The vibes already started shifting prior to Epstein.

… yes, this is exactly what he thinks and hopes will happen.
im not sure if you’ve noticed over the last decade, but Trump is kind of an idiot
Distraction.
That’s it.
There is zero chance the Justice department would bring any charges based on Maxwell’s closed door interview.
Because that means discovery, cross examination, so on, and so forth.
> While Mike Johnson could, I guess, call a special session of Congress, or some committee could convene, and subpoena Maxwell, and she could testify to them, but then, what would that accomplish?
FYI, she was already subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee last week for a deposition on August 11, although I think she’s ignored it so far: https://oversight.house.gov/release/chairman-comer-subpoenas-ghislaine-maxwell-for-deposition-at-federal-prison/
She just needs to say enough to make Trump’s base happy. They’ve been pretty desperate for any sort of “exoneration” of Trump, however flimsy.
A couple things:
Remember that MAGA is stupid and Trump has been feeding them absolute nonsense that they’ve bought for a decade. I’d be careful about assuming that they are going to rationally evaluate any spin here, they have been conditioned to seek out ways to not hold Trump accountable despite mountains of evidence
More importantly though they may not be looking for Ghislaine herself to “testify”, she can probably give them names of other people that worked in their circle that might be cooperative. Don’t be surprised if some random person we’ve never heard of “comes forward” in the coming weeks to “set the record straight”
My conspiracy theory is that they are working hard to find democrats. So then, they can go after the democrats and he can pardon her. Thus, it is all settled with the base and he doesn’t get anymore backlash. That is why he is golfing no so he doesn’t talk about it as they figure out what charges to bring.
Just to distract long enough for people to stop caring
Most likely to name people Trump doesn’t like and avoid naming people he does. That allows him to appease his base without outing himself (he was credibly accused of raping a 13 year old involved with Epstein and witnesses were backing her up) or others he likes. It removes all the negatives and gives him only positives.
He wants to buy her silence and make sure she tells the story he approves of
I don’t think Trump or this administration has a long game. Trump is one of the most reactionary and emotionally driven individuals I’ve ever witnessed. Strategy is not his skillset.
If she tells the right story, she gets to walk.
>I don’t understand what this is supposed to accomplish.
They are going to manufacture evidence and false testimony about their political opponents.
The negotiations with Maxwell are to get the fabricated story straight, and for her complicity in that farce she will receive a pardon.
Charges will be filed against those political opponents that his DOJ will pursue.
>OK, so they meet with her in prison, and offer her a pardon for her testimony that…what, that Trump was never involved in any of the SA activity with Epstein?
If this is what actually happens, my guess is she will dish some dirt (real or fake) on some Democrats and maybe some other well-known people who are already known to have associations with Epstein. Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Prince Andrew, people like that. And say that Trump didn’t do anything improper. And the pardon wouldn’t come until the very end of Trump’s term, it’d be way too toxic to pardon her now.
It’s not going to exonerate Trump but it will create a big distraction.
Ghislane will get a pardon.
In exchange for the pardon, Ghislane will reveal that even though Trump and Epstein were photographed together hundreds of times and in various questionable situations and company, that Trump’s name was never on the list.
Ghislane will also “suddenly remember” that many of Trump’s prominent opponents were named as clients on the Epstein List. Expect to see Gavin Newsom, Rupert Murdoch, Chuck Schumer, Bill Clinton, Obama and Hunter Biden to be “on the list” among others.
Trump uses that “evidence” as an excuse to harass, criminally investigate and prosecute his opponents.
She gives a list of names – targets, really. They go after those targets. The rabid lust for blood crowds are satsified. That’s the plan.
Remember, they don’t care about rape, or pedophilia, or child trafficking. They care about attacking their enemies. Everything about Trump and Epstein was known years ago, remember. He’s a convicted felon, he’s been held liable for committing sexual assault. They didn’t care. What they care about is that they believe the Epstein list is full of their enemies. They want heads. Specific heads. Clinton, Biden, etc. They want Trump to deliver them. So his plan is to do that. The problem is he’s also on the list, so he needs a lot of people to cooperate and cover that up. He needs to use the list, while also hiding the the list. The Maxwell pardon is part of the plan to make that happen.
> what, that Trump was never involved in any of the SA activity with Epstein?
There are three things she could offer:
> I don’t understand what this is supposed to accomplish.
Many of Trump’s supporters believe there’s a lot more to the Epstein saga, and Trump pivoting from “I’m going to release the files so we can see how bad the Democrats are” to “nothing to see here folks why is everyone still talking about this can we just move on” looks guilty AF.
He’s losing support and because he needs their adoration, like most people who cultivate cults of personality, he’s now desperately trying to figure out how to win it back. And all many of them need is an excuse.
> There’s no court proceeding, so I don’t know who she’s going to testify to.
She was just subpoenaed by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and hasn’t said whether she’ll testify or not.
