Lilacs. My grandparents planted a few bushes back in 1950-ish, and by the time I was born they were HUGE. Some of my earliest memories are of climbing up into the bushes when they were in full bloom and the world just disappearing into purple and green and that heavenly scent.
To this day lilac purple is my absolute favorite color and I’m somewhat addicted to lilac-scented candles because to me those flowers represent happiness and contentment and that sort of childish awe at the smallest things. I have my own little lilac bush in my front yard and I would die for that plant.
Some honorable mentions are poppies, yellow roses, the various types of bellflowers, and lilies.
Any of them as long as it’s in a garden and not ever given to me to put on a vase. They dry and require cleaning and I have enough cleaning in my life lol. Fake flowers need to be dusted so also a no. Am I the only one?
Jasmine: When I’m in a bad mood or all worked up, I go outside and pick a lil flower off the bush and hold it to my noes and inhale the intoxicating aromas deeply—instantly calms me down and recenters me.
Peonies and dahlias – my dad was obsessed with dahlias when I was growing up so we always had a bunch around in all different colors because he would buy one of everything if he could lol
For peonies, they have to be white or soft pink, wish the season was longer.
Daisies, osteospermum, gazanias. Any daisy-like flower. I also like carnations but one cat steals them from bouquets and dismantles them. Petals all over the house!
Queen of the night, night blooming orchid cactus. Mine bloom all year long. They fill the night air with their scent it makes an event out of any evening
I always got confused by a question like this. For some reason I never felt that I had an favourite. Never really cared much about flowers in that way. So I always picked something normal, but still not really …. Which were either white roses or the magnolia flowers. Both beautiful, but well .. meh.
When I was around 36 and just got single again, I simply started saying that I don’t have an favourite flower. Which was nice to do because it was actually the truth. I wonder how many others are out there having an favourite flower, conforming to others, while they have none.
