Gritería on December 7th. It’s like Halloween but for the Catholics. You get to sing, look at pretty altars of the Immaculate conception, hang out with your friends and get candy. I stopped practicing Catholicism a long time ago but every single year I make an altar to the Virgin and play the traditional music we sing that night.
September 18th. It’s our Independence Day (although not technically but no one cares).
It’s mostly about drinking and eating traditional food (Asado, empanadas) for at least two days straight but depending on the year it can connect with a weekend so you get four days, sometimes even five.
When I was a kid I loved Carnival not because of the music or anything except that it was common to play with water balloons in the streets (sometimes accidentally and not-so-accidentally getting people wet)
but flag’s day is the best because it is also my birthday
