What kind of trouble would a pilot get in if he was to buzz the tower like in Top Gun?

r/

Would he get a stern talking to or would he lose his wings?

At an airshow? It’s part of the show.

Anywhere else? They could expect to have their certificates revoked permanently.

The woman he flies over gets her wings, obviously.

The FAA would likely take certificate action and the pilot would have trouble flying legally ever again. Depending on the airport you would have several near misses with departing and arriving traffic if they manage not to hit anything. No idea how the military would handle it though.

    The worst trouble possible.

You’d probably never fly again for the military.

For perspective, ”the pattern is full” means ”we are currently dealing with the maximum number of airplanes possible and they are all within 2,500 feet of the location where you want to fly your juvenile and unpredictable route.”

It’s sort of like when someone ”merges” onto the highway and just jerks their wheel to the left while aiming for the fast lane during rush hour traffic while blindfolded.

A pilot was flying over my state capitol (it was his hometown too) and he decided to circle the city at a low altitude.

I forget if it was to show the crew his hometown or to show someone on the ground the plane. (It was one of those monster big transport things.

My son and I saw it and were impressedworried all at once. It was very unnerving to see such a huge plane so up close, yet still in the air.

It made the local news, he apologized, they said there would be ramifications.
