That video of the little girl with tears in her eyes, blowing out the flame of a bic lighter while forcing a smile (it was implied that her family couldn’t afford her a birthday cake)
In The Family Man, the main character (played by Nicholas Cage) is transported to a reality where he is married with children. The older child, Annie who is maybe 6, thinks that an alien has taken over her dad and is wary of him. Toward the end, when the Cage character is starting to realize what he missed out on in his other life, he’s playing with Annie in the snow. They fall and she looks down at him and says “I knew you’d come back”
I can’t get through that video of the gentleman who lost his wife, and his kids convince him to get a dog. He appears to be trying to make his bed, and the dog gets playful and instead of ignoring the pup, the man dances around with the dog. I don’t know why it makes me so emotional. Maybe because, I too am alone with my pets and, I don’t know where I would be without them.
Recently my step daughter interrupting me introducing her as my step daughter to some relatives I haven’t seen in a while. She abruptly interrupted me saying “Ian…I am YOUR daughter. I’m just gonna call you dad from now on”.
