What makes you support the current leadership?

r/

Hi everyone. I don’t want to provoke any type of hate, as my curiosity is genuine. My question is, what exactly makes you all support Trump and the MAGA ideology? What policies did he put in place that you agreed with? Why are you ignoring the bad side? What I learned from lurking on the internet, is that democrats like to critique even their own rulers. But I didn’t see the same about you all. Please, I’m very interested in trying to understand what is the appeal to such type of leadership.

I have not seen hate in this forum unless you come in with that type of energy.

    I support secure borders
    I support LEGAL immigration
    No new wars
fair trade (or close to it)
everyone working towards making the country better–no free loaders
    civil rights for all
no grooming of kids, no trans surgeries on kids but if you are an adult…love who you want, do what you want with your body.
    Biological men competing against woman

    Things I disagree with…
Epstein list — not releasing it.
Lack of arrests of crooked people in congress and other officials
    SALT in the BBB

For me, the good far outweighs the bad. Trump’s personality can be funny, but also obnoxious at times but policy is way more important than personality 100% of the time.

I voted for Trump because I agree with most of his campaign promises.

    1. Cut taxes and spending.

    2. Reduce federal scope and slash departments.

    3. Get out of foreign entanglements.

    4. Deregulate.

    5. Deport illegals, secure the border.

    6. Release Epstein files.

    7. “Drain the swamp.”

I think he’s delivered some already, not delivered others (yet), and seems he may never deliver still others.

Overall I’m on the fence. I try not to make perfect the enemy of good, because the alternative was a Democrat who does literally the opposite or a Republican who does opposite lite. But I’m still a bit disappointed because they always get our hopes up too much and over promise.

I’m not in any MAGA cult ideology and frankly I think the Epstein debacle proved there really isn’t one. I’m trying to be a realist but at the same time push for the change I want using my vote.

Republican elected officials generally do not support the mental illness that causes people to lose sight of the reality that is their gender, whereas democrats do and some of them even push it on little kids.

Republican elected officials generally do not support the founded-on-eugenics mental illness that causes people to kill babies before they have a chance at life, whereas democrats do. This one solidified for me when my adopted brother met his biological mother and teenage siblings in his 20s and his mother revealed that she was 14 when she had him and her parents said she could either get an abortion or have him and put him up for adoption. She had been raped by an officer in the Mexican military. He was adopted the day he was born and it hit him really hard that he was so close to being aborted.

Tough on illegal immigration. Its not right to exploit the cheap labor of people who are already poor just to keep our grocery prices down, while those jobs could be filled by American citizens. The general belief I see democrats state (democrats are obsessed with the color of peoples skin) that “white people will never do those jobs” is just plain false. I know many people perosnally that have worked the fields and have been priced out by the wages illegal immigrants will work for.

    >Hi everyone. I don’t want to provoke any type of hate, as my curiosity is genuine.

We always appreciate genuine questions from people who want to understand here. 🙂

    >My question is, what exactly makes you all support Trump and the MAGA ideology?

First of all, Trump and MAGA are not particularly ideological. Trump is not an ideologue who is well versed in Conservative political philosophy. He has more of what you might call a “gut Conservatism.” MAGA is not one ideology but a coalition of people from several different right wing ideologies, such as fiscal Conservatives, religious Conservatives, some Libertarians, etc. Because of this, different people will have very different reasons for supporting Trump, MAGA, and the associated policies, depending on what faction of the coalition they come from.

I support Trump because he is in favor of basically all of the policies I like and not very many I dislike.

    >What policies did he put in place that you agreed with?

I am very much in favor of his immigration policy of closing the border and removing as many illegal aliens as possible. He has also been the most effectively Pro-Life President since Roe v. Wade despite not being fully committed to the goals of the Pro-Life movement. I like his economic policy of lowering taxes to stimulate economic growth. He has been very strong on foreign policy, which is important for both trade and national security. His energy policy is focused on the best interests of the US rather than fear of an unlikely climate catastrophe. I’m sure there are more, but these are the first and biggest ones that came to mind.

    >Why are you ignoring the bad side?

I’m not ignoring the bad side. I just don’t think there is as much bad as Liberals do. My two least favorite things from this administration have been Trump’s support of IVF and his idea to not deport illegal immigrants who work certain jobs. I have spoken about both of those things, and I don’t ignore them. If I don’t talk about the things you think are bad, that’s because I don’t think they’re bad or important, not because I’m ignoring things that are bad.

    >What I learned from lurking on the internet, is that democrats like to critique even their own rulers. But I didn’t see the same about you all.

You must not be looking in the right places, because Republicans constantly criticize their own. The two biggest complaints I’ve seen with this administration have been not cutting enough spending to reduce the deficit and not releasing the Epstein files, and both of those criticisms are brought up constantly in Conservative discourse.

Why did I support the current leadership?

    1. because he believes in my current consevative values

    2. He believes in low taxes and fewer regulations.

    3. He believes in a closed border and deporting illegals.

    4. He believes in a balance budget and reducing government spending.

    5. He believes in a strong military and Peace through Strength not appeasement

    6. He believes in cutting waste, fraud and abuse and reducing the size and scope of government.

    7. Because he was NOT Kamala

What policies do I support? All of them. List of policy, I probably will confirm that I support it. Take something and misrepresent it in a negative way and I won’t respond because what is the point.

I don’t believe I am ignoring a bad sight so your question is kind of null and void.

I rarely see liberals criticize their own party except to complain that they aren’t far left enough. I never see them criticized just because they don’t think that their leaders are behaving appropriately. And I don’t know what makes you think that conservatives don’t have criticism for the current administration. It just so happens that most of what Trump is doing, we mostly like except for those antimaga Republicans and they have a right to voice their opinion as well.

I like Trump, so I voted for him. And, he won. Since he is the president of the united states, I support him. I will re-evaluate my position when it’s time to vote for Vance.

Yawn. It gets old responding to people who think that the left is principled enough to criticize their politicians, but the right somehow isn’t.

For the record, we like Trump precisely because he does what he says he will do. He doesn’t back down to the liberal press, he fires bureaucrats to downsize government, he secures our borders and kicks our illegals, he helps lower taxes, he avoids foreign wars, he fights due fair trade, and he appointments strict constitutionalists to the SCOTUS.

Not ignoring the bad stuff, I think Trump royally fucked up with the Epstein list. However just because 1% of what he does is bad doesn’t mean he is worse than the alternatives. Case in point do you think progressives stopped supporting Bernie Sanders just because he was against open borders?

    Why I support Trump.

    1. Unlimited mass migration is bad. I think we can both agree that the point of welcoming refugees is to help them? The problem is when you get mass migration. A country has finite resources and if we welcome in refugees but they end up in poverty because we can’t provide for them then how are we helping them? That’s why the simplest method is just preventing illegal immigration, both on a moral ground and principle ground. If a person can’t respect a nation’s border laws then how can we expect them to respect any other kind of law? Then we have the problem of the native population being displaced which just inflames tensions.

    2. Less progressive politics. Progressive politics exist just to divide people, there is nothing progressive about them. And the fact is that they seem to be receding the moment that Trump took office is a good thing. Let me ask you this. Do you think forcing people to say someone’s xe/xer pronouns will make them like or dislike the lgbt community? Do you think changing the race of a character in media will make people less racist or more? In both those cases you just increase bigotry by trying to force progressive politics.

    3. He supports America. The democrats do not. Their base actively hates America because they have been propagandized to believe America is imperialist while ignoring the fact EVERY nation has been imperialist at some point in their history. Then those same democrats will glorify China because of ideology. The president should love America, not hate it.

I like and agree with a lot of the policies. I’m not a MAGA supporter and I think it’s a mistake to lump all of the right into that category whether we support the President or not. I agree with how he’s handling immigration, law and order, the economy, and just his policies in general. I haven’t supported everything and even hated some policies. The DOGE disaster was a lesson in stupidity for example. Overall he’s been a net positive for America and I support that.
