What mechanism is behind the ‘afterglow’ effect from stimulant usage?

r/

I notice a pattern where I use a stimulant such as amphetamine for recreational/ADHD purposes, perhaps once a month in frequency, I always seem to notice that despite its short half life of about 10 hours, it seems to leave some lasting residue on the brain that lasts for almost a month where you are more motivated, have better focus, happier, better attention, memory and more. This effect slowly dissipates over longer times for example month or two. Does anyone here knows what mechanism is behind this? It’s as though the drug altered or induced some supersensitivity in the dopaminergic system, most people have reported it as the “afterglow” effect, but this effect seems to last longer than the usual report of 3 days, it can last for weeks from last dosage.
