What questions have you asked your leadership team/ administrators that has helped your career?

r/

I’ve been working closely with our company’s leadership team for a few months. During down time or before a meeting starts I usually drum up some conversation. I’m not the type to talk about the weather or other types of small talk. Any specific questions I should pose to the group that could help my professional development and my rapport with this group? It is all VP level admins and the CEO.

This is true for all levels, but people love talking about themsleves and you have no need to feel awkward in asking about anything related to their expertise. You can even ask a very specific question about big problem they solved if you heard any rumors.

I end every meeting with every person at every level with “is there anything I can do for you?”

I’m constantly complimented on it, and it makes me feel good to help others.

I’m not one to do a lot of sucking up and it’s usually them asking me questions as I’m both a manager and a SME. If I am asking the questions it’s usually asking for direction on projects and priorities and for support for my team.
