I make sure to pamper me. If there is day I woke up and I know I just can’t adult I call into work and spend the day focusing on me. I might do a walk, bubble bath, buy me take out. So yes I basically take me out on a date and treat myself as a way to thank myself for everything I do for myself.

Meditation. Gratitude practice. Swimming. Walking. Listening to the birds. A lot of reading and film watching. Art galleries, museums, plays. Hugs. Skin care. You name it. I visited the brink once and I’ll be damned if I ever get near it again.

I go to the gym 3 days a week, no matter what. I drink as much water as I can. I try to eat healthy. I’m militant about my sleep routine. I do NOT feel guilty about resting 90% of the weekend (other 10% is laundry, lol), or saying no to invites in order to conserve my energy. Finally learned all this shit at 38 and it really, really helps.

I safeguard my weekends like a fucking hawk. I need to have at least one day a week where I can sit around in my comfy clothes and not have to interact with other people or venture outside my home. I can do something on either Saturday or Sunday, but I will not do something on both unless it’s inescapable.

I have a normal daily routine that involves yoga, meditation, reading outside, and going for long walks. I also have designated pampering days that include a massage, facial, mani/pedi, and once in a while a body wrap or other service. I spend as much time on self care as I do on other social activities so it’s just a part of my routine at this point.
