I could rattle off 100 songs I consider perfect easily. If I had to choose 1 and only 1, first I’d get really angry about that. Then I’d ultimately land on “Trains” by Porcupine Tree. But I’d be really really torn up about my other top 10s.

Hallelujah. -Jeff Buckley cover.

Almost everything Jim Croce wrote. Time in a Bottle, Operator, I Got a Name, Photographs and Memories… I mean… goddamn. I go in for much much heavier shit these days… but I can’t listen to Jim Croce without getting misty-eyed.
Graceland by Paul Simon. Anything by Paul Simon, really. Also, Wondering where the lions are by Jimmy Buffet. It’s just so mellow and never fails to put me at peace.
The Pinnacle by the group Kansas is a powerhouse song, kind of their equivalent of Free Bird or Stairway to Heaven. It came out shortly before Kansas became popular, the album before their breakthru hit Carry on Wayward Son. Lots of cool stuff happening in that song, multiple keyboard, guitar and violin solos, and exquisite vocals.
