Almost anything by Sarah McLaughlin. I’m not even a fan, it’s just that some of the high notes she hit literally make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
Not a song, but the Berlin Philharmonic version of Mozart’s Lacrimosa (from Requiem) always sends a shiver down my spine – I can’t stop it, entirely involuntary. I’ve had it with other tunes to a lesser extent but this does it every time.
Cálice from the brazilian artist Chico Buarque talking about the censorship during the dictatorship that took place from 1964 to 1985. The song rhymes with “cale-se” which means shut up.
The chorus starts with “father, get away from me this chalice” (pai, afasta de mim este cálice)
Literally singing “get away from me this censure”. His songs are so complex and interesting. Roda Viva is one of them.
The entire album titled, “Crescent” by The John Coltrane Quartet.
Also the album, “Imperial Bedroom” by Elvis Costello and the Attractions. Their classic country music covers recorded in Nashville by the iconic Producer Billy Shirelle, called, “Almost Blue”.
Also… the song about child abuse, “Luka” by Susan Vega.
Lamplight Symphony by Kansas. Even more eerie is that, while he always enjoyed it, my father loved this song before he died. He didn’t know that he was going to pass. It happened suddenly. It’s a beautifully chilling song to begin with.
Specifically this part right here when the main theme is played by the whole orchestra. In my mind, I imagine the solo violin buildup is someone struggling to tell someone how much they love them. Then, the orchestra comes in and it’s like, it clicks, and this burst of emotion pours out.
Chopin Ballade no 1 and love’s sorrow Rachmaninoff arrangement. I am a bit of a classical music nerd but I can’t help it.😭 Also, tears don’t fall by bullet for my valentine
