Going running with my dog. I feel like a monster on days I can’t take her out and her hopeful little face keeps me motivated to actually go out

Im a reservist in my homes military. So that and just basic workout at the gym does that.

But military training basicaly boils down to running (18 minutes time, at least 2,2 kilometers). Push ups (within 2 minutes at least 25). Pull ups (around 10 is good, but more is excellent. No time limit, but no long breaks inbetween each).

Obviously none of that will be there from the get go. You work up to it. A vast majourity of women (myself included) who do volountary service get there after 3-6 months with those things being pretty much daily, so its unrealistic to expect that to work as quickly with a fulltime job.

50+ you should practice getting down on the ground. Lay down flat and up again to standing. 10x a day. Without the use of any furniture

I got a standing desk and a walking pad for my sedentary office job. It keeps me from mindlessly snacking cause my lizard brain is focused on how badly I want to be lazy and sit down!

Even stretching as little as 10 minutes a day drastically helps. I have chronic back pain and other misc pain from previous injuries and a desk job. There is a noticeable difference between weeks I stretch daily and weeks I don’t.

Taking the stairs down. They’ve done studies that have proven that – much to everyone’s surprise – taking the stairs down has greater benefits than going up. Who knew? (link for proof, lol)

Mobility and bodywork. I’ve been running and lifting for the majority of my adult life, but now that I’m approaching 40 I can’t skimp on things like stretching, thorough warm ups, mobility drills, and strengthening the very unsexy muscles like hip flexors and tibialis without tweaking/injuring something weekly.

I got away with ignoring those things for years, but those days are gone. Gotta do the unfun tasks in order to keep doing the fun things freely (and painlessly).

Standing desk for my job. Also just moving around more in general. Not being a couch potato after work. My mom is 70 and has zero health issues. Could be genetic but she is always busy doing something. Gardening, organizing, etc. rarely have I seen her sit around all day unless she’s not feeling well

Walking, 5-7 miles 3-4 days aweek. Dramatically helped my weight, eating habits and sleep. Downside is i go through shoes alot.

Working out in the morning. It takes a bit to get used to but any activity in the morning helps so many things! Whether it’s walking, weight lifting, swimming, yoga, Pilates, anything for 30 minutes changes your mental & physical health.

    1. you get in your workout for the day, so any additional movement the rest of the day is a bonus!
    2. puts you in a better mood immediately since cortisol is highest in the mornings and you feel accomplished
    3. helps metabolism get jumpstarted to work better throughout the day
    4. won’t feel sluggish during activity because you’re in a fasted state and don’t have to worry about going after work

Quick morning stretching and walking after work and a meal. Sitting all day makes me feel physically and mentally restless and I hate to admin to get sucked into the work day sometimes so walking at least a mile made me feel better overall, it’s all about baby steps
