I barely remember it, it came in a weird spoon or something to measure it, I think it was doctor prescribed, it tasted really weird. I know it was medicine but what type and what was it’s purpose, just cough medicine?

Possibly antibiotics. Amoxicillin for kids often comes as a pink liquid with the spoon described. It would also be one that a doctor prescribed.
Amoxicillin
Pepto-Bismol for upset stomachs?
Antibiotics.
I loved that stuff.
Mmmm fake banana medicine
Could have been calpol? It’s paracetamol in liquid form for kids
Amoxicillin. It’s still given to kids and still just as sweet, but no longer pink because dyes are bad.
ETA: apparently it’s still pink a lot of other places. Must be a California thing, or are there parents in CA that also got pink amoxicillin for their kids?
When I was a kid, the liquid antibiotics came in either bubblegum with pink dye, or banana with yellow.
Pepto bismol is also pink, and tastes minty because it’s flavored with wintergreen.
Dimetapp was grape and purple.
Cough syrup was usually red and cherry, though there are so many other options available today.
Bubblegum antibiotics
I can taste this thread
I just wanna know if I can get this prescription again as an adult.
Does anyone remember the alligator spoon for the amoxicillin?
Cough syrup with cosine. Now illegal everywhere.
Pepto bismol or amoxicillin.
Amoxicillin
look here
Was anyone else allergic to Amoxicilin?
Amoxicillin! An antibiotic, typically prescribed for ear infections and such. My kid is on it at this very moment for an ear infection. It’s not pink anymore but it’s still as sweet and cold as I remember it, since it’s stored in the fridge. Do I take a little lick if it dribbles on my hand? Maybe. It does no harm and takes me back….
Amoxicillin – usually for ear infections
My brain still remembers the taste!
It was the antibiotic Amoxicillin and was pink and bubblegum or cherry flavored.
Bubble gum flavored antibiotic, likely amoxicillin.
Ceclor?
It could be Pepto Bismol. It treats plenty of stomach and digestive problems, but it’s over the counter and not prescription.
Tasted weird? Are you crazy? It was DELICIOUS!
Amoxicillin, but while we’re on the topic, there’s like 30 flavors for liquid medications nowadays. It was a weird little bright spot when my dad was in hospice– he told me to just pick whatever sounded good to go with his liquid painkillers. Went through about 5 before he decided watermelon was the best.
My childhood penicillin was exactly as you described.
Dimetapp
I always called it bubble gum medicine and loved it as a kid. My son just got some and I tried some on my finger and it def is not as good as I remembered lol
I LOVED the penicillin. Maybe that was why I always got sick every November. I got the penicillin and then I got to lay on the couch and have jello and ginger ale. Sometimes mom would rub me down with Mentholatum if it was the coughing kind of sick.
Amoxicillin is right. Nearly killed me, I’m allergic to penicillin. I was beet root red for photo day in school when I was 5 lol.
The yellow non penicillin one tasted lovely, banana
Amoxicillin!
Pepto-bismol
Amoxicillin. I’m a peds nurse and sometimes I feel nostalgic watching my patients take it
Pepto bismal. It was for upset stomach.
Bubble gum medicine! They still sell the weird spoons. I bought some for my kids via nostalgia. Sadly their amoxicillin/augmentin isn’t pink anymore, but the flavor must still be okay because they don’t mind it.
Anyone remember orange Triaminic? I would sneak that stuff and my parents had to hide it. They only recently discontinued Triaminic.
Triaminic was amazing. More of a see through punk. It tasted amazing. Not as good as grape dimatap though.
Mmm bubble gum medicine
Antibiotics, usually amoxil if it was originally powder, but could also be Keflex or Erythromycin.
Amoxicillin. God I hated that shit. I was sick all of the time, and always had to take it. It made me gag.
Amoxicillin. I don’t mean to brag, but I had strep every damn year as a kid so I took it quite often😏
Bleh. I can still taste it
Children’s Amoxicillin , still make it, still prescribed it, still taste the same. Source I am a parent with three kids that have recently been sick and I am swimming in it right now.
It is a general antibiotic similar to penicillin. They even prescribe it to adults to but unfortunately in pill form.
The chalky pink stuff is Pepto.
Pepto bismol
Pink PotionAmoxicillin suspension, bubblegum-flavored. It’s an antibiotic, good against bacterial infections.
Source: Got prescribed it a LOT as a kid. At least it didn’t taste anywhere near as bad as Pediasol or whatever that nasty "banana"-flavored crap was.
Too bad they can’t all taste like Orange Potion (Triaminic cough syrup) or at least Purple Potion (Dimetapp Elixir).
Could also have been Pepto-Bismol liquid or pink (cherry?) Kaopectate.
Bubblegum amoxicillin! I had to take that so much as a kid…had swimmers ear and strep a lot
That shit when it was in the fridge 🤌 I remembered looking forward to it LOL
Amoxicillin
I think my favorite was the strawberry flavor amoxicillin. I still have nostalgia from drinking it(as a child with constant ear infections). Yummmm.
Amoxicillin. It was yummy.
Amoxocillin suspension
Amoxicillin or Augmentin. It comes as a powder that the pharmacist reconstitutes before dispensing. And occasionally an unlucky pharmacist will close the bottle after adding water, begin shaking it to mix it, and shake bright pink liquid all over themselves because the lid didn’t screw on all the way.
Definitely not speaking from experience or anything.
Wow. I’m so old, I just thought of Pepto Bismol. That’s what we got as a home remedy. The pink amoxicillan was in the era of my kids – the daycare fridge had bunches of all the kids’ Rxs in there.
Fun fact: I got strep last year and the way the immediate care np looked at me when I requested bubblegum liquid amoxicillin 🤣 I was 37 and it made having strep so much better.
I remember the small white bottle you put water in and shake and drink, I don’t remember what that was for but it still haunts me. Yuck 🤢
Amoxicillin
The pink bubblegum flavored one that had to be refrigerated was amoxicillin.
I remember my mom giving me some before I went off to kindergarten and it was so good I thought it was a reward or something. I miss that existence.
Christ yall it still exists
Liquid amoxicillin
F$&@ing liquid penicillin.
I recall, as an adult in my late 20s with a massive sinus infection, begging my GP to give me “bubble gum medicine.” He laughed and said I was too old and the dosage wouldn’t be high enough. That shit was gold when I was a kid!
Pepto Bismol
Moxie!!
Amoxicillin. I halfway suspect I developed an allergy to it because of how goddamn often I had ear infections as a kid.
It could also have been amoxicillian with bubble gum flavor.
Amoxicillin… Still giving it to my kids today …
Most basic antibiotic & thus the first choice for common kids bacterial issues ….
Bubble gum flavored amoxicllin! Used a lot for sinus infections or respiratory issues.
Amoxicillin. I can still taste it today. I loved that stuff.
Amoxicillin
amoxicillan and they still prescribe it in a similar way — only now they use an oral syringe type deal.
As others have said, probably amoxicillin suspension. I took it a bunch as a kid for recurring issues and preferred that stuff over the purple one. I now have a child of my own who was prescribed some Amoxicillin for an ear infection. The movie-style flashback I had after opening the bottle to that sweet, bubblegum smell was almost disorienting lol
Amoxicillin! Bubblegum flavored
Amoxicillin. Bubblegum deliciousness.
