I was aimlessly walking one time when I was 18. No cash in my pocket, no aim, no immediate plans for my future. Just wondering what I want to do or even if I was capable of achieving anything.
I was chilling for a bit on a bench as this homeless guy walked past by me. Instead of asking for a cash as I expected, the dude looked at me and told ” hey man, you can do it” and just walked away on his merry way.

I look beautiful
I was told my eyes were like the ocean. Since I love visiting the ocean that made me really happy.
Burn in hell!
Not so much a verbal compliment.
But I was walking to the grocery store after my gym session (had a bit of a pump happening and wearing my tank top. And this mum with her 2 kids literally stopped and gawked.
I consider myself to be an average looking guy… but that was the look of someone who admired my hard work.
I consider myself below average.
Once I went to a repair shop to replace laptop battery.
Shop Guy: “Which gym do you go to?”
Me: How do you know I go to gym?
Shop Guy: Anyone can tell by looking at your shape.
A stranger in a parking lot: “Hey man, you look like a movie star”
Me: “Thanks….you too”
Ive been asked multiple times by strangers (typically other men) how I got in the shape I’m in or how I get arms like mine. Compliments from women are nice too but women are less straightforward about it, but I also have my wife who said it was one of the reasons she was attracted to me so I’m not really worried about it, but I do enjoy the bro moments, and it’s nice to know that what Ive been doing is working.
Young Espresso girl told me I had nice teeth. I was probably twice her age. I think about it still today and that was years ago.
The RSL I worked at as a TAFE student, used to host the volunteers of the Gold Coast Indy for a big knees up, feed n grog, post event, around 1400 pax.
Due to monumental stuff ups and dummy spits, I get handed the function sheet, no idea why anyone thought I could pull it off, at least it was a buffet…
Managed to pull it off, wasn’t perfect but did the job.
Sitting on a pail in the function kitchen afterwards when the F&B manager walked in, put his hand on my shoulder and said “well done, mate..”
That was all I needed..
Getting out of a tractor, long scruffy hair, knackered baseball cap, f-ked work jeans, rainbow mirror safety shades on.
“Shit, you look like a rockstar”
From a rather attractive girl half my age. 😎
I was holding an umbrella for my wife as we went to her side of the car and let her in. A gal passed by and told me she wished her husband would treat her the way I treat my wife. Sadly I had closed the door so my wife didn’t hear the remark. I just said, aw, thank you.
I’ve never received a compliment from anyone and I want to keep it that way.
I used to be really fat. Morbidly obese. A little more than 10 years ago I finally hit my rock bottom and started to get healthier and lose the weight.
About 5 years ago I ran into an old coworker I hadn’t seen since my fat days. I waved at him and said hi as we passed in the hall and the guy did a literal double take and said “Holy Shit! I didn’t even recognize you. You’re like half the size you used to be!”
That one stuck with me.
Someone complimented my smile.. but It was COVID at the time and I had a mask over my face. I was very confused.
