What weight do people consider “fat”?

r/

I’m around 350lbs currently, I switched from online school to in-person for this semester, and people treat me like I’m massive. I also made a post last month asking for e-scooter recommendations, and I got some replies with similar insinuations.

I’m afraid to ask, but what is the weight people see as fat, and am i over that?

It’s more about appearance than actually number, you can be 220 and jacked or you can be 220 and look like a blob

I’m not gonna be mean, but yes. It is. If you need accomodations because of your weight, you are. 350 lbs is a lot. I weigh around 210 and I often call myself fat.

Anything over 250lbs, unless you’re 6 foot+, is fat. 300+ means you’re gonna die much earlier. Probably 50s at the latest.

Depends on your height and gender. 350lbs is like 25 Stone and nearly 160kg. That is quite a lot but it depends on your height and build.

I was 350 a couple of years ago. It depends on how well you move and how you carry yourself. I will say for your physical health it might be a good idea to start trying to slim down. I don’t know your story but i believe that when you are ready. You can do it!

It would help to know your height, but you are probably considered very fat.

I am 5’11 and 260lbs and am definitely fat.

I refuse to believe this isn’t rage bait.

While I will admit that BMI is a very shit metric, it can give a general idea of where you should be.

350lbs is taxing on your body and your health. I can only recommend and encourage you to make some lifestyle changes, for you and your future. I understand how it may feel when people bring things like this up (I myself was 300lbs at one point), but take it as motivation to better yourself. It will be hard work, and you will need to be disciplined, but the other side is so rewarding.

Depends on your height and all but generally, if you‘re an average person in your 20s, anything over 250lbs is a lot.

I’m 5 ft 8 and 200 lbs and consider myself fat, I’m just below obese atm, I think you might be in the morbidly obese category.

350 lbs is going to be fat no matter your height but just how fat though depends on your height. If you are 5’5″ and 350 lbs then you are massively overweight but if you are 6’6″ and 350 you are still overweight but not nearly so much. I know someone who is approximately your height and probably weighs at least 350 if not more and he is morbidly obese. He can’t fit into normal seats in cars or planes and he struggles with mild physical exertion.

350 pounds is very very large for just about any human. If you need motorized help to get around, you are over weight. if you own a mirror and working eyeballs at 350 pounds and have to turn to reddit to ask if that’s overweight, you are overweight

I’m assuming you’re American, and the average weight of an adult female American is 170 pounds, and you are twice that. Do with that information what you will.

You’re obese for sure. Dangerously so based on the height you mentioned in other comments. I’m 5’8 and I was obese at 225 as a male. I lift weights daily, so BMI isn’t the best metric, but I could feel my body fat percentage was high.

You need to take ownership and take control of this. It’s probably one of the hardest things you’ll ever do, but also the most rewarding. You got yourself into this, and you can get yourself out.

No need to be a gym rat, just count calories and go on walks. I was 250 and am down to 178 myself. It’s incredible how much it changes life for the better. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and give it a try. I believe in you and you’re not the first one to experience this.

Sounds like you are morbidly obese. I hope that you are doing something to get it under control.

350 pounds at basically any height meas you either have a lot of muscle, or you are morbidly obese.

I’d highly suggest looking into long term workout plans and consulting a dietician, thats the kind of weight that kills toys mobility and circulatory system when you get older.

At 5’5” the ‘obese’ range on a standard chart (using BMI) starts at 180.

Even if you were 6’6″, 350lbs is heavy. For someone who is 5’5″, you are absolutely massive.

I’m in the UK, but anyone at that weight here and only 5’5″ tall would easily be in the top 1% of heavy people. You should be less than half that weight.

You need to lose weight. The first step is apprehending that you are huge. Sorry.
