Why not a menstrual cup?
Making an essential product free has no downside on its own, but it would mean deciding to use the money on that instead of something else. So the question isn‘t “why not make tampons free” it’s “what should we buy instead of tampons”
Way better uses for that money than your tampon.
You could use that money for say hospitals, homeless, education or probably 1000 more important things than your tampon.
We can pay the tampon for say unemployed poor women but why would we pay that for some middle class women?
Male republicans would be terrified
Someone has to make the tampons, and they will probably want to be paid.
If you think the government should be providing tampons, you better be okay with the bare minimum quality, because they sure as hell aren’t going to be paying for the best ones.
I’m a dude, I have absolutely no idea if there’s a quality discrepancy between the least and most expensive tampons, but I’m sure the government would find a way to make them worse.
