Honestly, unless you’ve been through it as well giving them useful advice is going to be pretty difficult.

addiction is giving up everything for one thing, recovery is giving up that one thing for everything.
Firstly, it’s their body and that means that they can and have to be an active participant in not putting things in it that are bad for it. And secondly that our bodies fail us all the time.

Is the addiction harmful/self destructive or done to avoid essential responsibilities? What is the addiction and what is the impact.
I’d tell them to stop pretending to post on someone else’s behalf and to be more specific as to what addiction.

Until they commit to changing, nothing will happen. They must put Time & Distance between the last use — whatever the vice is.

Be kind to yourself. Understand that addiction is a powerful force and you are no less worthy of love if you slip up.

I’m nearly 8 years clean from heroin, sitting around worrying or feeling sorry for yourself does nothing
