Emptying the dishwasher for me. It has something to do with completing a cycle. Plus knowing that we didn’t use disposable plates and utensils. Plus some of those dishes and utensils are like old friends, much the same as favorite articles of clothing.

There literally isn’t one. I hate all chores.
Laundry (for a family of 4). It doesn’t take that much time- just 10 minutes here and there to fold a load while I watch something on my computer. I have a good system in place for sorting/folding, too, which makes it easy to put away. And at the end of the day, doing like 6-8 loads of laundry feels like a big accomplishment!
Same here! I do like to let everything air dry first. That extra bit of efficiency also makes me smile.
Oh yes—there’s something beautifully nostalgic about it.
I remember as a kid, we had a few pieces of cutlery that felt… special. Like the tiny spoon with the dent, or the fork with a weird handle. They’d vanish for weeks—sometimes months—and then, out of nowhere, they’d magically appear in the dishwasher again, like returning from an adventure.
Ironing- it smells nice, it’s clean and hot
Cutting the grass is really cathartic. I love the sound, the smell, and the sunshine.
Cooking. It’s one of my favorite things to do. Always something to learn and the results are delicious. Putting smiles on the faces of people I love is wonderful.
There’s not too many household chores that bother me – it’s one of those mindless activities I do every day. It’s like a form of meditation for me – I am doing it without really thinking about it, so my mind is relaxed and calm – and I have a sense of accomplishment when it’s done.
Doing the dishes, lol! There’s something about occupying my hands that feels therapeutic, and I like water. The whole process lets me just wander in my thoughts.
I don’t mind dusting
Washing dishes. My hands are always cold so I love the warm water. Plus the cleanness of the dishes after and also doing a simple task let’s my mind wander. However never ask me to dry dishes. I hate drying dishes.
I kinda like doing laundry. But then I also got a dryer and I don’t bother with ironing. And it makes everything smell nice and a sweater right out of the dryer in winter feels just ever so great. Or fresh sheets. It’s that kinda thing that makes you not want to kill yourself today.
I don’t mind doing the dishwasher and washing machine stuff. One time my BF and I had agreed to split it 50/50 but he used to make so many mistakes and I decided to take over because I don’t mind it anyway.
Mopping the floors. I have one of those mops with the spinny bucket, kinda works like a salad spinner to remove water from the mop, pretty fun. And it feels like it makes such a huge difference in how clean the space looks.
Dishes. I love getting my hands wet lol
I actually love doing laundry. I find it very relaxing.
All other chores…I’d gladly pay someone to do if it was in the budget. But laundry I’d keep for myself.
Ironing. For me, there’s something kinda zen to removing the wrinkles of life and making things smooth.
I don’t mind doing dishes. There are some nights I am beat but most times I don’t mind and can enjoy it. I don’t mind vacuuming either, and mopping can be nice. Oddly, sweeping can annoy a bit at times. Usually because that one danged thing thats tucked under a cabinet won’t be swept. But to mop I sweep first.
Washing big blankets, comforter, and duvets
It used to be my Dad and I washing them at a coin laundry- and all of them- so like 5 sets for the house. And while we waited for them to dry, we got Crazy bread next door at the Lil Cesars
I still think about those times when I wash blankets
Vacuuming. I love how fresh everything feels even if it all looks the same.
Laundry. I actually enjoy it.
Not sure if it counts as a “household” chore but I love mowing the grass. I look forward to a nice hot sunny day I can be on my mower for hours!
Vacuuming. Hearing all the clinks of the dirt being collecting is very satisfying.
I really enjoy folding t-shirts. My partner and I have quite a large collection of band shirts that we wear regularly, and I like file-folding them so that you can see the design on them all when they’re put away, so it’s easy to see which shirt you want to grab. It’s oddly satisfying seeing them all neatly arranged
Laundry. Love it, actually.
Loading and emptying the dishwasher is the only one.
I worked for years as a school custodian so I’m burnt out on removing trash, cleaning bathrooms, and mopping floors.
As a child my father forced me to wash the dishes while the rest of the family was watching a movie that I also wanted to watch so I don’t like doing that either. I also don’t like having wet hands.
The dishes. My sink is always empty cause anytime I cook, go there to put a plate away or wash my hands I clean whatever’s there. Can’t stand anything piling up and having no dirty dishes or pots lying around feels so good.
Taking out the trash sometimes it’s like a little walk
I hand wash dishes each morning before coffee. It’s a ritual I love.
I don’t get the hate for laundry tbh. It’s very little effort.
Washing dishes. I’ve never had a dishwasher (except for a 2-year time when we were in an apartment). My kitchen now has a huge window in front of my sink so I can wash dishes while I watch traffic and people go by, or watch the wildlife in my yard. I can watch the sunshine and the rain and the wind or gaze upon a gorgeous deep blue spring sky.
I’m able to kind of zen out during this time, just letting my mind wander however it wants, or work out a problem subconsciously. I can put on calm, classical music and relax, or I can put on high-tempo tunes and sing as loud as I want.
I love the feel of hot water on my hands, and the fluffiness of the dish soap suds. I love a good job well done knowing that I have taken care of my family and my home as I wipe off my wet hands, turn off the light, and head to bed. It’s a "last task of the night" job that signifies that the day is done and it’s time to relax and go to bed.
Cleaning my room, my room is rarely ever dirty/messy unless it’s laundry day, so I’m really just organizing my shelves, I like rearranging my vinyls, my skincare/perfume/body care/makeup, and sometimes my bookcase (if I get new books)
Washing the dishes, cleaning the bathroom.
Cleaning. I really hate tidying, but I love cleaning.
Doing the laundry. It’s a lot shorter than washing dishes.
Washing dishes.
Organizing the pantry or the closet…it’s like adult Tetris.
Something about lining up food items and arranging clothes and other stuff does it for me. Plus, this momentary illusion of control over my chaotic life gives me satisfaction
Secret perk: Finding those pairs of pants that you haven’t worn since 2018 and feeling like an archeologist
Washing, drying, folding and putting up laundry. I do mind ironing though, or having to go to the dry cleaners.
Washing the windows. It’s so satisfying when you can get it just right with no streaks, and the light coming in looks so clear and bright after.
Laundry
Cooking. I love it. I love planning, shopping for, and preparing meals for my loved ones.
Filling the dishwasher or washing the dishes by hand
Washing dishes. I do some of my best thinking then.
i don’t really mind washing dishes or scrubbing surfaces. i’m really good at deep cleaning.
but don’t ever ask me to put clean dishes away or i’ll literally die.
vacuuming. I despise laundry and cooking.
I LOVE vacuuming.
Something about sucking up all the detritus like a black hole is so satisfying…
Now clearing up the clutter in preparation to vacuum, i do not enjoy.
Laundry and dishes.
Both give me time to listen to audiobooks. Without which I’d hate to do them.
Changing the bedsheets. We sleep with our dogs so i change them at least every week, sometimes more. I love the feeling of clean sheets and can instantly feel when there’s too much dog hair. It happens quickly.
Vacuuming is probably my favorite.
