I turned left when I should have turned right. 8 hours in the ER and 24 stitches later I’m here to discuss it

The decision to finally accept that my narcissistic mother will never be the lovey caring warm mommy I needed growing up..

I denied for YEARS. I somehow thought if I can be 1 million versions of me she would choose maybe just 1 of them to love.

I’m 28 and I keep my mom very distant . It’s the best thing I ever done for myself mentally

This girl was into me, a bit annoying, but not too bad. I figured, yeah, I’ll give her a chance, why not?
Firsr and only girl inever dated: Married for 11 years, 2 kids. I’m absolutely enamored, i think she might be a witch.

  7. MoffTanner Avatar

When drunk on a stag party accepted the offer of this girl to go home with her.

She only tricked me into marrying her, having kids and moving to a different city.

Swiped right on bumble and gave a random nerd a chance. We’ve now been together almost 6 years, two dogs, a house, married, & trying for a baby!

Went to a friend-of-a-friend’s birthday party who I didn’t know because I didn’t have anything else going on that night. Been friends with the birthday girl for 30 years now, and married to her sister for 14

If you have a day off try fasting because that makes up for days you overeat during your workdays . I think stopping eating for pleasure help me a lot

Having my baby instead of having an abortion. No judgement to anyone who has.

I made the choice one Sunday afternoon to walk my dog before a storm kept us stuck inside. Because I’m not a meteorologist and because I can be very aloof sometimes I didn’t realize the obvious signs that rain was imminent, and not 15 to 30 minutes away as my dumb brain thought. So not 5 minutes from my house my wonderful greyhound and I end up getting totally stuck in the rain, but not before we are soaked to the bone. We use a park shelter for shelter, ha, and wait the rain out and it turns out this was quiet the storm, because it takes almost an hour for it to pass.

I end up getting sick from this litte excursion in the rain, it’s a horrible flu cold whatever, this was before covid so it was probably the worst I had ever felt in my life up to that point. I’m barely conscious for two full days and to the dismay of me and my girlfriend at the time I have forgotten to do something very important during these two days.

We were moving away to college together later that year and I had waited to the last second to send some paperwork to the company that was going to lease an apartment to us. This caused a huge fight, it brought up old feelings which we had clearly not dealt with, and instead stuffed away years ago. And long story slightly shorter, we break up. And thank whatever being is up there watching out for me that we broke up just then. If we hadn’t it would’ve been much more painful once we moved and had basically glued our lives together. We were clearly destined to break up, and this was the best possible time for that breakup to happen honestly.

Without that small decision to take my dog out for a walk that day we probably never have that fight, I send the paperwork on time, and 5 months later we’re living together far away from home under immense stress from heavy courseloads and have a much messier breakup.

Moving out to live in university halls! I would’ve had an entirely different experience of university if I had stayed at home my parents. I enjoyed it so much I went back for my masters lol

Downloaded Duolingo as a joke during finals week. now I’m fluent in Spanish and accidentally fell in love with someone in Madrid. we’re getting married next year.

My university had language requirements. I switched to a random language out of the blue a few weeks before school started and everyone thought I was crazy. Fell in love with it and my ability to speak it fluently has really helped my career

Not answering text messages from ex’s.

Maybe not small, but Joining the military after high school. It gave me time to mature and paid for college.

Replied to a meme in someone’s story with just a laughing emoji. four years later we live together, share a cat, and radicalize each other over breakfast.

Growing up in a small Midwest town without any foreign language options in high school, I decided to take Spanish class in college. Loved it. Ended up studying abroad with it and then double majoring in it. Has helped me tremendously in my career, have traveled to numerous Spanish speaking countries (including living in 2 for a few years), married a lady from one of my work travels, and our children are now fully bilingual and have tons of related travel and educational experiences of their own in Spanish. Love that I can communicate and relate to so many additional people I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise. Can’t encourage people enough to expand their horizons by learning another language or two or three…

got fired from previous, high earning job after co-worker fucked up and i tested possative for pot on a piss test. while looking for another job i saw an ad (on kijiji of all places) for an electrical pre-apprenticeship program with IBEW. didnt realy think too much about it at the time, honestly thought it was a scam because they where promising $1000 worth of free tools and the program was free if your accepted. figured ‘what have i realy got to loose at this point’ and threw in a resume. got accepted, passed all their tests. passed the program. became an electricians apprentice. got accepted into the union. in less then a year ill be writing the certification exam and if i pass, ill be making double what i was making in my previous job that i got fired from.

in the 4 years since the day i got fired and i thought my world was crashing down around my feet i’ve bailed my self out of debt, gone on a trip to scotland, bought my first new vehicle, quit smoking weed, cut down on my alchahol consumption, and will likley buy my first house soon.

“ah why not eh, what have i got to loose at this point”

Didn’t go into the military after graduation in 2000, chose work & college instead. A year later 9/11 happened, can’t imagine how fucked I’d have been.

I spent the summer in Spain. I had already registered for fall semester classes. I randomly logged in to my school portal on the computer in the hotel lobby, dropped one class and enrolled in another. That class set me on a trajectory on which I’m still traveling.

My older sister’s boyfriend at the time told me about Martial Arts gym he knew, I was 17 and went to my first Muay Thai training and I kept going because the coach was young and hot. Shortly after I came to my current coach – who is like a second father to me.
Now I’m 23, fighting profesionally, living in Thailand for a while already, just moved to Bangkok, I’ve met people from around the world, had my first love and first broken heart (as well as hand and nose haha), speaking 4 languages (some better, some worse), and living the life across the globe that I didn’t even know existed, when I started training.

I’d never think that I can do sports professionaly although my favourite subject was always PE lol

And I’d never think that a random guy who was teaching me how to punch and kick for the last 6 years, would be the person I call when I’m struggling, crying, have a problem or I’m just excited about stuff.

Drunk called an ex-boyfriend and told him I made a mistake moving several states away. The next day he was waiting for me at my apartment when I came home from work. Later this month we celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.

Best thought through decision, not moving back to our hometown.

Applied for an ESL job in Korea. Just hated my job at the time and was pretty unhappy generally. Thought nothing of it and figured nothing would come of it. Ended up living there for 8 years and pursuing a career in teaching as a result.

Le acepte un cafe al niño que todos me decian que no. 2 años y medio viviendo juntos, lo mejor que me ha pasado.

I decided to “interfere” with my husband’s job prospects.

By that I mean his old work buddies went to the electrical union after the electic company they worked for turned out to be shady af. They wanted him to come along but he wouldn’t answer their messages so they came to me and told me they needed ro talk to him.

I asked what was up, and told him to talk to them.

He finally listened to them and went from a minimum wage job to the union. He’s now foreman and making triple what he did before. AND he likes (loves?) His job

I picked a book off a shelf at a Barnes and Noble when I was teen, more or less at random. Bought it. Loved it. Read the series. Got my best friend into the series. Through the series fandom, he met a cool girl he thought I might get along with. I married her. Been together over 20 years now.

All because of a snap decision I made at 15.

I messaged another girl in a league group who wanted people to pay with – 6 months later she finds the message because she forgot she posted and invited me to play with her discord group. The instant I heard one man’s voice my heart started racing. Now I’m with a Canadian and immigrating to another country lol he’s the absolute love of my life every other experience pales in comparison and I didn’t think love like this existed before him

I looked down to change my clock after a time change while driving. I almost immediately hit a telephone pole and totaled my car. I never look away from the road while moving, now.

Wanted to do something active & fun so joined my local squash club. That place is now my shrine. I have met so many lovely new friends, I’m fitter & absolutely love the game. I play racketball now too & it’s just so much fun.

Wore glasses instead of contacts as a young teen, when my parents pressured me to switch to contacts. Got into a car accident and a window shattered on me, glass was embedded in my glasses. I would be blind if I hadn’t been wearing them.
