I got a lot of knocks and bumps playing football and rugby that I didn’t let properly heal. Being young and daft, you think being like a coiled spring will last forever, but it catches up with you as you age. If I don’t exercise several times a week, I’m like a creaky old gate.
I’m pretty content with most everything and despite having back issues from time to time, I’ve been good to my back. Exercise and a good multivitamin regiment are probably the two things I’ve relied on. But if pressed, I would say more devotion to leg days would be the one thing.
Oh and I did have a spell of eating poorly when I worked night shift, but that was remedied when I stopped working nights.
Stretching. Like, real stretching, not the quick five-second arm swing before the gym. I wish I made it a habit back then. My back and hips would probably send me thank-you cards now 😂
Not necessarily habits, but things that absolutely should be done in your 20s to improve your life are:
Travelling (just going on a 1 month trip across the world alone in my early 20s changed my life and made me more confident and wiser)
Stopping or restricting alcohol consumption
Being more concerned about who you specifically want as friends, if they only like you when you’re drunk or are negative about your successes, you need better friends
Pursuit of qualifications, within a year or 2 of dedicated work in your free time, you could become a lot more employable and pursue a career you’re actually interested in rather than an arbitrary one.
Being careful with the food i ate and exercising. I didn’t know that you’d get body pains in your 30s.. I yawned and hurt my neck, it’s crazy. I’m 34, I have decided to watch my diet and start exercising to lose weight since November last year coz my feet, knees, and back hurt often. The body pains are now gone.
Keep running long distances. I decided to prioritize weight lifting and sprinting in my fitness activity at that point and now I want to run again and am having to slowly condition my body to handle 8+miles.
In my mid 20s I basically stopped producing testosterone. I have no idea why. I went through puberty totally normally. But around age 25 I stopped being able to ejaculate. I didn’t worry about it that much because orgasming felt pretty much the same and I wasn’t trying to have children…. But damn I wish I had gotten checked out back then. I waited too long. Now I’m 35, my testosterone is high and ejaculations are normal… but my wife and I are struggling with infertility. Moral of the story, take care of yourself.
All this faldoral about “good health” will kill you early. Don’t purify your body so completely that when finally called on to do so, you can’t handle the grease and sugar and salt that we call food. Don’t rendered yourself extinct. See, healthy people are like dinosaurs. They’re not fit to survive. They’re bodies can’t take the burgers and bonbons and pastry suckings like real Americans. We are the truly strong. You’ll see.
Started Foreskin restoration in my twenties, has helped improve functional health physically as well as mentally to have that with as it should, recommend it
Regular doctor and dentist appointments. Kinda let all that shit drop off the radar in my early 20s when I didn’t have my parents making appointments for me, until shit got bad enough that I couldn’t put it off anymore.

I wish I had eaten more healthily, especially vegetables. Health is wealth.
Hiking. It’s great exercise and you get to see some beautiful places before the calendar gets packed in your 30s.
Lifting weights. Not for aesthetics, but to protect my joints, bones, and posture. Wish I started before my back started complaining
Learn to lift properly with your legs instead of your back. You don’t want that kind of pain that comes with a spinal injury. Ever.
Stretch and strengthen your hamstrings and glutes. Eat protein. That’ll set you up good for your thirties
Don’t drink. Or indulge in drugs or anything of that nature. You ca definitely see who did in their 30s.

Drank 50% less.

I wish I had kept up running as a hobby like I did in high school and also started eating real food, not processed junk.
Eat raw garlic-no seriously, it has the power to lower blood pressure and heal colds.
Stay hydrated
Exercising
Reading and writing
Saving
Investing
Taking care of your teeth

Stop drinking alcohol.
Took me until I was 28 to realize how stupid it was.

Actually using my health insurance/benefits after I got my first desk job.
I grew up without any health insurance. Parents were SBO with no insurance of their own.
Going to a gym.
Exercise will become a pain the older you get if you don’t do it and you’ll lose muscle tone.
