What’s one trip or experience you’ve always wanted to do just for yourself, no partner, no kids, just you?

For me it’s definitely a solo cruise and bunjee jumping.

    Long overnight train trips.

I mean lots of other things but I never want to go on a train trip with anyone else, just me and a (metaphorical) pile of books

When I retire, I want to go visit every bridge I ever designed. I just want to see how they’re doing. It’s very humbling to design things that are intended to outlive you, to survive hurricanes and seismic events and population growth, and I would like to see all of them again. It’ll take years to get to them all, but I’m going to do it.

I mostly travel alone. I’m now single, no kids. I’m thinking about saving up for a trip to Japan next spring to see the cherry blossoms.

Ideally I’d go with a friend or two, but a perfume tour throughout Europe (but especially France)! My husband would have no interest in it and none of my friends are big enough smelly water people to want to go with me.

I did something of the ilk when I visited Paris and Grasse the summer after high school, but that was with my Dad and I was still a literal teenager. I’d love to make a return trip as a fully grown adult with money of my own and better-developed taste.

Cycle across the US, from ocean to ocean.

I know it sounds silly – among other things – but I’ve always wanted to visit Disney World or Disneyland. I never had the opportunity to go as a child

I’d also love to see the Nazca Lines in Peru in person. And El Greco’s View of Toledo in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Plus the Lourve and the Vatican Art Museums too.

I’d also like to go back in time and attend an REM concert in person, but that’s not going to happen. 😄

    • Go to Iceland, stand on the edge of a cliff side overlooking the beach or waterfall and sing my heart out. Why? Idk seems beautiful and cathartic imo.

    • Skinny dipping in the ocean at night beneath full moon with no one around.

    • Surfing 🌊

    • 3+ day yacht trip between islands

    • Ice skating on a frozen lake in the woods

    • Camp. Laying in lush green Scandinavian grass near the mountains completley alone

I went to Paris solo in my 20s. It was amazing. Now I’d like to do a beach resort solo.

This is such a wholesome post 🥰 It gave me a great feeling seeing the answers, everyone is so peculiar and unique and all the dreams are so beautiful ❤️ I hope we all can get there and make those experiences a reality.

I’ve always wanted to be by myself for a week and ride a bike or walk to quiet swimming spots at beautiful beaches. Eat alone at little restaurants and dictate my daily routine.

I’m doing it in September. It will be my first child free holiday in 12 years and my first proper break from work in 6 years.

I’ve traveled to 45+ countries solo, but there are 193+ countries in this world, so I have many more to go.

Well, I did Red Rocks last year. Next year I’m thinking: fly into Seattle, visit for a day or 2, go to Mt. Rainier NP, Olympic NP, then drive down the coast thru Oregon to Northern California and visit Redwood NP!!! Two weeks!!!

A wellness retreat type of place (e.g. yoga, vaguely spiritual, vegan food) in a place like Bali or Costa Rica.

    See: NOT the White Lotus.

I would love to do a solo road trip across Canada to the pacific ocean. When I was a girl, I read a book about another girl who did such a trip with her family and in the book she noted all of the towns she passed through and the places they stopped. It was such an important book to me, and so I’d love to retrace her steps.
