    1. work in the service industry, even if its just a month, but you learn so much about people and pragmatism

    2. Be alone with yourself, travel somewhere by yourself, even if its just a day, and just be there completly alone

Work in retail, food service or other “unskilled” labor. There’s no reason to be a dick to workers and there is plenty of skill involved, just not ones that snooty people appreciate.

LSD, Its a life changing experience and it makes you question a lot of stuff.

    Streaking. Exhilarating experience.

  5. OkSell4285 Avatar

Waking up in a hostel with a pounding hangover and zero recollection of how I got there. It’s a rite of passage, really.

Learn to take yourself to dinner and just enjoy the time with yourself. No phone, just you, your meal, and enjoy.

That sort of disconnect from your social circle around the point you become an adult. Just so you can figure out who you really are, and not stagnating because of the people you hang with or the communities you are a part of.

Take a flight somewhere you’ve never been just for a day. Leave on an early flight, no bags, land, see the sights, then hop on a flight home that evening.

Best to stay in your time zone or 1-2 away. If you travel across the ocean, stay one night and leave the next evening.

Being broke, living on nothing until your next pay. It’s no fun, but you learn to be resourceful and the value of money.

Everyone should experience massive disappointment, something that changes their world view and forces them to reflect and broaden their perspective. Without this struggle, don’t truly mature

Take yourself out on a date at least once but preferably as much as possible.

Experiencing loss. Genuine loss of something you love. It really helps you figure out your real priorities in life.

Skinny dip and sunbathe nude. Drink coffee nude early morning while looking out over the city, town, mountains, ocean, or back garden. Wholesome nudity is refreshing and peaceful.

    LSD
I know, it sounds crazy, but I think everyone should try at least one psychedelic drug at least one time. Doors of perception and all that hippy shit aside, you can simultaneously experience the world through a different lens and think about the fact that if a simple little chemical can change so much how perfectly built are our minds?

  29. railwayed Avatar
    1. Run a marathon. It’s the ultimate test of mind and body

    2. Teach. Whether it’s at a school or university or at a camp, or even at your local club. Pass on your knowledge and what you have learnt. You can do it for an hour, a day, a month, a year or for your career. The world needs more teachers

  30. Unusual-one- Avatar

Foreign travel. The USA is not the be all end all. Travel expands your mind, helps you understand people, and learn so much.

  31. kerill333 Avatar

Having a pet. Being truly loved.

  32. wittyusername025 Avatar

I’m 41 and still don’t know what it would be like to be loved. I’ve only ever known how to love someone but never have been loved in return. I would like to experience that once in my remaining years if possible.

  33. DeeLite04 Avatar

Either work in retail or teach. Something where you have to deal with the general public.

  34. AnxiousTeen16 Avatar

    Doing DMT.

It’s the only drug I’ll ever try and convince people to try at least once so long as they have no predispositions to schizophrenia or any existing psychiatric conditions. Stay away from other drugs kids.

Why? Because it’s simply like nothing else you’ll ever experience in your lifetime. Other people have mentioned LSD but even that is nothing in comparison to DMT. It is genuinely the most insane and most beautiful thing I’ve ever experienced in my life and I’d do it 100 times over if I could.

  35. mellotronworker Avatar

A genuine near death experience. It might make you realise what life means to you and hence by extension to everyone else.

  36. Emergency-Tension-99 Avatar

thinking your about to die. like near death experience. also being loved, bestfriend or lover. being truly loved is healing.

  37. nursey74 Avatar

    Unrequited love.

A surprise party/trip/birthday set up. Processing that someone ran around quietly to see that look on your face is amazing.

  39. screwylouie420 Avatar

2 chicks at the same time.

  40. randomusername1919 Avatar

Also, commute by bicycle. You are so much more connected to the world than in a car.

  41. MrLanesLament Avatar

    Getting laid.

I’m of the belief that you should get your first one out of the way as early as possible, with a consensual partner you genuinely want to do it with.

It will uncloud some areas of judgement in your brain. The world will make more sense, and it’ll improve your overall understanding of interpersonal relationships and communication.

Lost teaches u to appreciate and treasure the moment bcs once and out of nowhere it’s all gone

Also a freshly baked piece of sourdough bread with butter

Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself 7 things you like about yourself. You might be surprised to know that you are not so bad and useless after all. I know I have.

cuddles and especially being the little spoon ! experienced it and it was heaven !

  46. AkkiMylo Avatar

Bullying, struggle and failure. It helps develop empathy and understanding. It’s easy to have an arrogance about you when you haven’t experienced these things, thinking people that do aren’t trying hard enough.

  47. Secure-Freedom5116 Avatar

    Quality time with yourself

  48. Future-Ear6980 Avatar

Being broke. It (normally) gives you respect for money and those who are skint through no fault of their own

Work in a Nursing home for a week.

  50. Original_Face_4372 Avatar

Real, actual misery. Like the kind where you do not know how to get something to eat next, where to sleep the coming night…the works.

At least where I’m from most people never actually expierenced a really hard time and I see people whine and complain about how terrible their life is, when they’re actually in a way better spot than I was for most of my life, on  almost a daily basis.
Don’t get me wrong I’m pretty well now but I think I have a completely different sense of gratitude for what I have due to how shitty my life used to be and from time to time I catch myself thinking maybe some people could have used a similar experience

psychedellics, climbing a hardish mountain, sailing on big water (ocean water), travelling a river for days by paddle, these experiences change your perspective on the world and your place in it. teaches you how strong and capable you are, and offers views and moments that reinvigorate you to tackle the daily challenges life offers

  57. Chilli-Bomb Avatar

Driving for a living, you’ll learn to stay out of lane 2 on the motorway when not overtaking.

Waitering / bar work, you’ll never have bad attitude with another server again because you’ll know how tough it can be.

Riding a motorbike, it’s the nearest we humans will ever get to flying.
