    Fruit.

We had bowls full of beautiful satsumas, pink lady apples, grapes, bananas etc. Often soft fruit for pudding like strawberries with cream or stewed plums. My parents were NOT rich either this was something they prioritised.

Nowadays I do still eat fruit but not as much at all sadly.

When you buy the individual ingredients for stuff, you realize how much cheaper it is than buying a microwave dinner or the like. Depends what you’re making of course but still surprised me how big the difference can be sometimes.
