I have good friends whose daughter is graduating from high school this year. She has received a nice athletic scholarship to an in-state school and won’t be so far that she cannot come home on a weekend.
Money is obviously a nice gift, and I will probably do a gift card so she can buy something for her room or get whatever she might need.
However, I would like to find something a bit unique and meaningful. I’ve known this young lady since before she arrived in the world and I just want to send her off with a little something that she will always say “This came from ____.”
- No jewelry. She’s not a big fan.
- Nothing extremely expensive.
- She is a regular church attendee, but not overly religious. I don’t want to do a Bible or something that personal, as that would likely come from her family (her grandfather is a church elder, so I could see him doing that).
I’m open to ideas… any suggestions appreciated!

The best gift I received was I didn’t have to go to high school anymore.
Look on Etsy for gifts. She may appreciate a hand turned pen or something in her school colors.
Does she have her old sport shirts that could be made into a quilt? I know several athletes that had that done and the all love it.
I could have used a gift certificate for a free abortion
A Tesla would be good, because right after highschool you don’t have money for fuel
Not sure if this is possible but with the ubiquitous cell phones around could you get enough photos and videos of her playing games to create a highlight reel. It will be cool now, but will mean even more as she gets older.
I know this still counts as money, but I received rolls of quarters for laundry- Most helpful gift i recieved!
Unconditional love.
