As an ex-Christian and ex-pastor, it’s pretty frustrating to have this thrown in my face all of the time.
I’ve blocked it over and over, but always it’s here.
Does Reddit push it deliberately? What’s going on?

I don’t think you can block ads. Ads are there to get eyeballs. What’s going on is that Reddit was paid to run that ad.Edit: I’m wrong. You actually can turn off religious ads in settings. Seems strange, but it’s true.
yeah, unfortunately it probably involves a formula based off of your previous searches which then puts a specific ad out 🙄. Similarly , I just found out that my friend has cancer and (of course) I start getting ads involving cancer…
Don’t stop, keepscrolling when you see ads you don’t like..the algorithm will move on to something till it finds something you’ll react to. Positive or negative it just wants your peepers on it. So if you stop or slow down when those ads come on, it knows it’s got something. Like fishing and trying different bait.
Nobody is doing anything to you, only you can control your reaction. Confront the feelings, process them, move on and get over yourself. Maybe stop typing pastor, Christianity, and the literal title of the ads and you’ll stop getting the ads.
You can actually turn off religious ads, found this out after complaining about this very thing. Go into your settings, click on your user name, and scroll down to toggle off religious ads (and a couple of other options as well) it’s not as satisfying as these fuckers not doing their stupid ads, but a little at least.
What happened that your an ex pastor? Just curious because I really struggle with religion….
I was raised in a church environment, but the older I got none of it makes sense to me. No need to awnser. I realize it’s a prying question.
The homy spirit convicting you duh lol
I hate these ads and I loathe the fact that Reddit insists I have to watch them. Shocker that they only care about money.
I’m curious as to what led to your change of faith?
Ads pay for this. What’s the issue?
I don’t usually do this, but I thought maybe you were mentioning Jesus enough to trigger the ad algorithm so I checked your comment history. That doesn’t seem to be the case with you.
I just know Stalker Jesus visits my feed more when I take low effort pot shots at Christianity.
A bit off topic but I noticed you play Last Epoch. Would you reccomend the game to someone who will probably sit out the season in Diablo?
Like others have said, you can turn off religious ads in settings. I still occasionally get them but much less frequently; once a month instead of multiple times an hour. Atheist here sending love!💕
I get really upset by those because they are funded by people who specifically spend money on phobic lobbying.
Like…. That’s abuse. That’s specifically abuse, to tell people one thing in order to get them into a church that will preach them the opposite.
You guys are getting ads?
why not use an ad blocker?
I keep.getting ads for .ens balding. I’m a woman with fairly thick hair. I just keep them so I don’t get something more annoying.
Oh man, I haven’t seen those in forever
I’ve never gotten a religious ad
It’s because the ad engine get sus.
In the mobile app you can turn off various types of advertising like religious, alcohol, gambling, and fertility. In the Settings menu click Account Settings then scroll all the way to the bottom and there’s list of sensitive advertising categories. I turned all of them off and haven’t seen a Jeebus or a Get-Knocked-Up ad since.
If you’re on android, you can used revanced manager to mod the APK, removing all ads
