I got fired when I worked in a Chinese restaurant and I made a whole bunch of egg roll boxes to block the door to the back room. Also, put an onion in the bosses’ exhaust pipe. I was asking to get fired though. I was a dumb kid.
They put in a 2 week notice. The manager fired them on the spot and chewed them out. “You don’t want to be here? We’ll good, we don’t need you. Get out.”
Not leaving a voicemail. (I work for a retail electric provider in Texas, they say we are obligated to leave a voicemail because it raises the possibility of our customers answering the second time we reach out.)
OP, that’s not really a dumb reason to get fired. Theft is no joke, they type of person who will take something that doesn’t belong to them without a second thought need to be cut out immediately and without prejudice. Today it’s a soda tomorrow it’s a wallet.
Unless you meant it in the sense that the person getting fired was dumb for risking their job over a soda.
I worked at an ISP like 6 years ago and there was a guy there who never really talked to anyone. Just seemed to sit in the back working…or so we thought. Dude did nothing all day. When someone figured out he had never done a single ticket in his entire time in the NOC (Network Operations Center) he was just like well it was a good run and packed up his stuff and left. He had been working there for over a year before anyone noticed.
I got fired on my first day at a berry place because I wasn’t fast enough to keep up. UM, it was MY FIRST DAY—no wonder they couldn’t find anyone or keep anyone long-term.
The owner of a restaurant I worked at saw what our new food runner looked like, and that she was a bit chubby and not overly, conventionally attractive. He had her fired and said she didn’t “fit the image” of the restaurant and said they should never have hired her. She literally did nothing wrong at all.
And of course he himself was a gross looking tall, skinny man who, despite being skin and bone, had a giant beer gut.
I worked in a dev shop building mobile apps in the early 2000s. Our office manager hired some “absolutely amazing” senior developer that they met the night before at an event. My desk was behind his. He watched old episodes of Bugs Bunny for three days straight while I kept telling the manager that this guys a hack. They finally asked for an update and, go figure, there was nothing to show. He just got up and walked out.
One of our contractors was impromptu called into a meeting to deliver his boss some papers. He was probably only in there for a moment or two to make sure the boss got what he needed.
Guy was fired later that day for “Entering a privileged meeting as a non-employee”.
We are in a meeting and my colleague shared wrong screen where he has NSFW open via discord. Manager was able to get screenshot and never saw him after.
Saw a kid at Walmart get fired committing the same infraction 4 times. He got written up for it the first three times too, he did it again and he didn’t have any more write ups.
I had a boss at a restaurant that emptied a three hole punch under a table, then told a busser to sweep the floor. When he came back in the room he moved the table and saw paper chads still under the table, so he fired him on the spot.
The person refused to help other workers when lifting and transferring. I Worked at a nursing home helping the seniors as a CNA. It took months but they got the ax.
I got fired cause I made a joke on Facebook. Someone didn’t like it, found out where I worked (it wasn’t that hard), took a screen shot of it and sent it into HR. After it got brought to thr attention of my managers, they called me into the office to get the story of was it actually me? Did my account get taken over by someone? Was i drinking? Nah, it was me and I was sober. So they gave me unpaid leave for a few days while they did their “investigation”, then called me up to tell me I was fired and to drop of my badge and keys at the security gate. I hated that job anyways, so i didn’t care too much. Now I just make my asshole jokes on reddit…WHERE THEY BELONG!
One of our night shift employees had brought in a wifi router because we would let the employees on the wifi. He only got busted because he was unplugging my computer and one night he forgot to plug it back in.
A girl who was basically my work wife got in trouble for something related to a distraught client. She was called into a meeting about it and afterward she went straight to me to tell me about what had happened. The supervisor saw her talking to me, called her back into his office, and fired her.
While I dont want to go into details, later on my own supervisor told me why she got in trouble (before talking to me) and it wasn’t anything that you should be fired for, so I can only assume she was fired for talking to me about it afterwards.
Co-worker decided to try to get high by inhaling an entire can of room deodorant. He’d never done it before, but wanted to see if he could break new boundaries. I guess he did, because he got hauled off in an ambulance.
New hire, day one, hour one of starting at my grocery store. I was walking him around, giving him a tour of the storage area. He grabbed a beer out of a six pack, opened it and took a sip then just stared at me.
Fired him on the spot before he even had his name tag.
An ear·bud in someone ear. I was at Disney Springs with friends from out of state. And this woman was passing out flyers saying that she was SA at a restaurant or bar. She was saying even though it was reported nothing happened. Mind you there were other women in bar or restaurant as well who are getting SA . She said a few weeks later she was fired cause of an earbud.
Had a doorman job where my girlfriend at the time worked and she would come and visit me. They told me she couldn’t spend time with me while I was working and I said ok. She brought me lunch one day I was fired soon after that.

“That’s not my job.”

Someone decided they would not show up and see how many days it took to get fired. 2 day BTW.

Got fired for calling in sick once, the one exception to my perfect attendance. Like I had a new job later that day but still…

Guy got fired for getting his GF pregnant.
Wha? Serious?
Yup. Serious.
Why did that get him fired?
His boss was his father-in-law.

Two ladies in my office got into an argument one day over something trivial.
One called the other a fucking see you next Tuesday.
Really dumb.
You don’t call people that in the workplace.
Guy paused an interview to do a drug deal in the parking lot. I might very hired the guy too. It was surreal

Telling the rig manager that his job always goes smooth.

I got fired for being on my phone as a gas station cashier while I was training the new guy
