Developed ulcers lining my esophagus due to a medication. Didn’t eat or drink for days. Lost 25 lbs in a weekend.
Later – tonsillectomy as an adult. Recovery wasn’t terribly difficult, but I lost my taste and didn’t have an appetite due to it.
After that – move more, eat less. Took up running, ate smaller portions. Lost 90lbs. Not the absolute quickest, but the most permanent. Have maintained my loss, and working on breaking through my recent stagnation.
The divorce diet is also very effective for quick loss.
I fast for a few days, drink only (and plenty of) water (dehydration impairs the body’s ability to break down fat for fuel). I do this every week and I’ve realised I very rarely feel actual hunger.
When your hungry… grab an apple(or any fruit) if you don’t want that fruit drink some water your not hungry your bored. But also saw heart break that also works very well
Got three wisdom teeth removed in a month, I could barely open my mouth and lived off of pudding and baby food, and prior to that, had some work done on another tooth.
Watched my mother die and then deal with the aftermath of making funeral arrangements and dealing with sibling squabbles.
Or cancer. Had both. I think I prefer the cancer
The month after my ex husband moved out I dropped about 25 lbs. Two reasons:
I was no longer engaging in his terrible eating habits, including having to hide any treats I bought myself because to leave a treat in the pantry for more than a day means it’s fair game even if I said “Hey I bought this for myself for a little treat when I’m having a hard day, can you please leave me at least a serving” because it’s “mean”, “controlling”, and “too tempting” if I “don’t eat it fast enough”
The fastest i ever lost weight, i went from 250lbs to 225lbs in 4 weeks. I’m 6’2″
I didn’t go keto, but i limited simple carbohydrates – sugar, potatoes, rice, bread, pasta. Ate in a calorie deficit. That is absolutely necessary. It doesn’t have to be a huge deficit, but it needs to be consistent. When you first start the deficit, the body doesn’t go straight to burning fat – first yo have to go thru your glycogen stores (stored sugars) in your muscles. THEN the body burns fat.
Basically i alternated days between HIIT and Circuit-style weight training.
HIIT, or High Intensity Interval Training if you don’t know is basically maximum effort for a minute, then rest a minute. You can do it with running, burpees; whatever you can max out doing. Cycle this maybe 8-10 times, so the whole HIIT routine only takes 15-20 minutes.
For the weight training. Not too heavy – not much point with reduced carbs and caloric deficit. Just basically I cycled through everything once: 1 or 2 cycles through of each set to failure (chest press, lats, biceps, triceps, shoulders, leg press, ham curls, calves – whatever you want really) the whole thing should take an hour at most.
The HIIT increases metabolism and the effect lasts a couple days on average. Very effective for weight loss.
Also be sure to get a solid 7-8 hours sleep every night.
Long-cardio (hours of running etc) are not actually effective for weight loss i found – better to try to just get a lot of walking in to supplement the exercise.
I’m no doctor, some people may disagree with some things here, but it’s what i did and it felt like a healthy way to do it.
I genuinely was curious to see how people lost weight and I’ve seen some comments on here regarding health and relationships and other personal issues.
I’m sorry if anyone has had to go through any life changing/me mentally pain to lose weight

What everyone else is saying + i started chewing my food more and eating slower and it’s helped me get full quicker so i eat less and have better digestion 🙂
Weight loss contest at work that paid out 4 weeks pay. Gradually cut out meals until I was eating twice a week the last 4 weeks of the contest. Went from 294 to 229 in about 4 months.
Eating vegan a few years back. If you’re doing it right, you’re eating a lot of veggies and fruits that are very filling and give you a lot of energy. Just gotta find where you get protein from. It worked for me because I was very strict though.
Counting calories. Set a number of calories to eat a day and then stick to it as close you can. Mine was 1600. Walking every day also helped but the diet is something you can actually do every day, rain of shine.
Also set a secondary number, so it’s more of a range. Like, I set mine for 1600, but obviously I was okay if I ate like, 1633 calories, or 1700. The highest number I tried to stay under was 2000
Used a calorie tracking app. Was honest. Kept it at 1500 kcal per day. At the same time I hit the gym with 10 minutes of cardio as warm up, 40 minutes of strength training and 15 minutes of cardio at the end. Anything above that 1500 calories and it became way harder to lose that weight. Also after becoming fit it became impossible to lose more weight no matter what.
Nowadays i have gained some weight but I dont have the discipline I once had to cut it again.
Comments
Put it under something then forgot where it was.
Heartbreak.

Not saying it was a healthy way to do it, but I dropped pounds like there was no tomorrow.
Calorie deficit the only way
Being broke
Meth
Cut back on eating, don’t drink anything but water, and move more and lift more. Life style changes only way to truly lose and keep it off.
Temporarily? Food poisoning. That’ll knock off 10lbs overnight.
Permanently though? Hard calorie deficit and regular exercise.
Bariatric surgery followed by a two week liquid diet, then slowly reintroducing solids. First month I was losing a pound per day.
Not me, but a friend had hernia-correction surgery and a week later he looked half the size.

Intermittent fasting. The only way you’ll lose weight is less calories.
Less calories + move more. Simple really
Swimming is a great choice for losing weight. It burns more calories than the gym, and it’s healthier than just dieting too
Walking everywhere and no pre made food diet. Cooked everything from scratch. 30 lbs in 2 months.
The month after my ex husband moved out I dropped about 25 lbs. Two reasons:

I lost about 80 pounds in 90 days by reducing my daily calories to 1,000.
I know it’s not the healthiest way to do it, but I have kept the weight off for 12 years now and have never felt better.
Norovirus
I don’t recommend it.
