It just takes me back a really vivid time in my life… back to the time that I discovered it around the end of highschool. It’s the last song on one of my favorite rock albums of all time… Diary of a Madman. Basically a journey through the mind of a man who’s going crazy.
I remember being mesmerized by the complexity and genius of that song. It’s on an entirely different level. They managed to combine almost every human emotion possible into this masterpiece of a song that’s basically the story of a man losing his mind. While combining elements of rock, heavy metal, classical, and blues.
In 8th grade we took a weekend field trip to the Holocaust museum in Washington DC. On the way back we stopped at a mall food court for dinner. I was in a weird mood I’d never experienced before because of the museum, so I snuck away to be alone for a bit. I wandered into a CD store and bought an album with a cover that looked interesting.
I listened to that CD on repeat for the entire 8 hour bus ride home. I’m in my 30’s now and it’s still my favorite song to this day.
Generic Blues by Weird Al It’s from my first album that was mine, not one of my parents that I was borrowing. It’s also the first song I emotionally connected too and felt like it “spoke to me”. It was a catalyst to having a strong love of music.
Tubthumping by chumbawamba. Pretty much sums up my life. Got divorced in 2020 had a few breakups and going through a break up now. I might get down but I get up again.
It is a somewhat Old Classic and one of a kind, you don’t come across many good French songs about an ancient tribe along with unique musical instruments. Not the kind of song I want to hear every day but I sure sing and shout when I hear it.

Livin’ on a Prayer, it just gets me going and pumped for life
Blink 182 feeling this.
Subtle complexity, perfectly captures teenage love and lust. And just a rocking song on top of that
Don’t have one, but there are many songs I hold dearly from a different point in my life.
Wildfire by Borgeous. Idk. It just gets me pumped up. Good beat drops and energy explodes. Can’t knock this one. Give it a go if you can.
Roman Holiday by Halsey.
There’s something about how specific it is that makes me think about my own experiences.

Stare at the Sun by Thrice. The whole album is a masterpiece and was a game changer in terms of music tastes for me but that one really stands out.

It’s one of the only songs that I can really feel.
Had it on repeat while going through a few hard times.
It got me through
My way, Frank Sinatra, I found a CD of his at home when I was a kid and I played it, the first track was My way and I absolutely fell in love with it.
Currently… Kid Charlemagne by Steely Dan. It’s pretty much perfect

Head Over Heels – Tears for Fears
It makes me feel all sorts of feelings, but primarily because it takes me back to being an innocent, curious and imaginative 10-11 year old.

Christina Aguilera reflection.
Fix you – Coldplay.
Lemon Tree – Fools Garden.
It’s simply a perfect song, in my opinion.
