My husband and I have completed our family and we’re sure we don’t want anymore. He’s considering getting a vasectomy but I’m concerned about the potential side effects it could have on his health. What has been your experience after having a vasectomy? Have you suffered from any long-term side effects?
What’s your experience with a vasectomy?

I’m about 8 years on from it. Great decision to have it. I did have ‘twinges’ for about 18 months after, but all fine now. Nothing long term.
I don’t advise going on a long family outing the day after like I did. Tight pants and ice packs.
For me, no ill effects. Just discomfort for a week and a memory of that bad smell of cauterization.
After 20 years the only side effect is less money spent on birth control. There are no health side effects.
There are no side effects unless a mistake is made during the procedure.
I had one about 2 years ago. Zero side effects after it healed, at least so far. It is absolutely crucial to take the recovery seriously though. That is not an area you want to have complications with
Had mine many years ago. Simple procedure, easy recovery and no side effects other than not having to worry about pregnancy. Just give him a heads up that during the procedure he’ll see and smell smoke rising from his balls – that was a WTF moment for me.
Was easy, booked it, paid for it, dude injected anesthetic into my nuts, told me 6 mins later it was sorted, came in a cup 3 months later and was told I was sterile. No difference to volume or sexual urges or anything like that. Honestly that’s the full experience, nothing different or remarkable except I can’t have kids. It was great
No effects except on my wife. No pill for her = more libido 🙂
Got mine 5 years ago. No issues whatsoever. Wish I had done it sooner so my spouse could’ve gotten off birth control earlier.
Sex anytime, anywhere, no condom!!!! Short term SE had a build up of sperm that was a little uncomfortable but my body soon figured out how to reabsorb no problems since. My Dr did it all with one incision. And they gave me enough Valium I didn’t care what was going on down there!
One of the best decisions of my life. Zero side effects. Had it done and was back to work the next day with a bag of frozen peas.
It’s been 20 years and still no problems. Just be sure to do checkups to make sure it stayed. I had mine tied and burned. Didn’t feel a thing
Had it done nearly 2 years ago. Only side effect I got was like a random ball ache every so often for about half a year.
Otherwise it’s honestly the best thing you can do in terms of birth control.
Easy done,
Simple,fast, painless
Pulling my dick into a jar a week after for testing was a bit confronting
What side effects you think he’d be having? It’s just the operation to cut the sperm getting anywhere. It’ll be absorbed like normally if one doesn’t release it in any way. It’s not like he’d be losing his testosterone production.
No issue for me. Bit of aching after as expected from any surgery but was super quick and once recovered was back to normal. Now not having to worry about contraception is awesome, so much more fun. Also taking the stress of my wife is a big plus.
Slightly awkward but quick procedure, no long term impacts, wife benefited from not having BC, all good.
Best thing I have ever done. No side effects whatsoever
No ill effectes. Some manageable pain in the first week but no problems whatsoever since then.
My experience was pretty bad for about three months and then good after that. Go to the “post vasectomy pain” subreddit, ignore the stories but look for some good resources there about risks. Personally, I never would have had it done if I had known the risks, but that’s just me.
Personally it’s unnecessary. I’ve got all the birth control I need right here. Gestures towards face and body
I was unlucky. Very painful granulomas followed by another operation to remove them and prevent more.
Post vasectomy pain sucks and it isn’t especially rare.
I was one of the few where it doesnt go so well.
The incisions got infected and didnt heal. Ended up having to remove the stiches myself and take antibiotics til it cleared up and healed
For about 12 months after that it was quite tender, and I could feel one of the tubes was much larger than it ever used to be. Had an ultrasound which didnt show anything
The one evening it ruptured. I had a swelling that looked like I had a 3rd testicle. So ended going to casualty who got me prepped for surgery.
Turnsout that it was all pretty badly infected on the inside and that had all built up
Its all fine now. But was pretty awful for the first year or so afterwards
Zero long term effects for me other than it appears to have had an aphrodisiac effect on mrs elevenblade
No side effects…doctor said i had to ejaculate 15-20 times before testing. Told my wife we had 3 weeks to
complete the task. Since the vasectomy was her idea, made sure she was involved. Best 3 weeks since college!
One of the best decisions I ever made. One day of a little soreness and a lifetime of not worrying about accidentally having another kid.
Changed everything, I would never have done it if I knew how it would change sex for me
Great decision for me and my wife. Some discomfort Nd no ill effects. 25 yrs and going
Fast, easy, no pain. Love the au naturale!
No issues for me. Just soreness for 4 days made easier with a frozen bag of peas.
Have one, no effects whatsoever. Most people claim their sex drive goes down I think that’s from getting older and losing the “i can get her pregnant” kink.
Got it January 2nd of this year.
Takes the top end off the orgasm.
My left nut hurts after sex sometimes.
