What’s your favorite place?

r/

Okay, life is being sucky and you need a happy place. Where is yours?

I live in a state with mountains- there are small parks and hikes where you can sit by a stream and listen to water. The smell of pine is amazing. It’s my favorite. So much peace.

I like visiting a chill local tea room, getting some high-quality tea made for me gongfu style, and simply relaxing there with a book in hand. Sometimes I bring Mr. Burrrito or a friend; sometimes I chat with the purveyors; other times I just observe the crowd around me who are also there to sit and appreciate tea. It’s a lovely, tranquil place within the city and a great way to pass by a lazy afternoon.

    My bed.

My bedroom is very cozy. Curled up in bed when it’s a bit chilly in the room, but my bed is just the right temp, love it. Having my dog curled up right along side me. Usually have a candle going and comfort show or movie on the tv. I love it in there. Sometimes I love it too much. Like it’s nice outside and I should go take advantage of it, but my bed is so nice.

The porch swing on my front porch. I get to look out at woods, birds, nature, it’s shaded from the sun, protected from the rain.

    The beach.

    Any beach.
    Any time.
Summer. Winter. Rain. Snow. Don’t care. I’m very lucky to live close enough to go sit by the beach any time I want.

The forest near my home. Especially a nice hiking trail at a creek in a beautiful valley. It’s lovely.

A nature preserve in my town, mostly evergreen forest with a big pond and a suspension bridge over a very steep ravine. I’ll take any excuse to go there.

Currently costa cafe, i moved back in to my family’s box room and its a busy house. I find solace in sitting at the cafe and giving myself space to feel fully

Ah yes that pine smell is so fantastic. In the summer, in the evening time when it smells like pine and dust and you can enjoy how the wind sounds through the trees. For me that place would be Bass Lake area, where my best friend growing up had a cabin and we’d spend lots of the summer up there.

The mountains and arroyos near my house are definitely one happy place for me, especially this time of year when the grass is super green and the earth is a little damp and you can smell orange blossoms and alyssum and dirt. Unfortunately a lot of my favorite spots like that recently burned, but they’ll grow back.

My couch early in the morning when everyone else is still sleeping but I’m up having some coffee and a little cookie or something, in the dark, with a candle burning and a blankie wrapped around me. I love that.
