I do not believe men can be close friends. They can be good friends but not close.
All my closest friends are female. I am lucky to have found a few sisters from another misters
I only have one male best friend and he’s my best friend’s husband. They’re both older than me and I’ve literally grown up before his eyes. So I treat them the same way and he’s signed in my contacts as an older brother. but this is the only man with whom I have friendly and family communication because we have known each other for more than 10 years and from my experience, I think I will never meet a real “friend” man again in adulthood. And I am very glad that in my life there is a real example that a woman and a man can also be best friends. They’re both my family
I’d say more men than women, but I’d love to have more women as close friends. And actually local, I am the quintessential “found all the cool people living in other countries” chronically online person. Women my age just aren’t into my hobbies, so when I do community things, I’m always surrounded by seniors 🙁
I don’t think I have any actual friends. Older ones drifted away once having kids. Newer ones drifted off after moving. The kind of friends that are current are ones that kind of pop in and out because we are all so busy with kids in sports and life. All women. I have a lot of acquaintances that I regularly talk to. I say that is pretty 50/50.
No male friends unfortunately. Every male friend that I’ve had, has tried to get me to leave my husband for them- which i don’t understand. So now I just stick to my girls.
So my only male friend is my best friend, my husband, and my other friends are 100% women.
I include my spouses friends as my own bc I lived with them for a year and we all got really close. Including them I would say like 60% women 39% men and 1% other gendered
I have no friends right now 🫠 but I’ve been very closed off the last couple of years, so that’s why. But when I did, it was mostly females. I did have a couple of male best friends when I was younger/ in my teens. Most of my closest friends have been older, by 10 to 15 years. I’m not sure why I just clicked more with people a little older than me.
