When I was in high school, I remember noticing certain guys who everyone considered cute in middle school/9th grade were average by the time we were upperclassmen. Why?

This happened with two guys I can think of, both whom I’d had a crush on. I don’t remember this really happening with the girls.

At that age, cuteness is less about looks and more about social skills and charisma.

facial features change and people can age out of cute… and ugly.

There was a kid in our school who looked like a young Elvis in elementary and Jr High.

By senior year, his face looked like a catchers mitt.

Many factors and to list three st the top if my head :

    1. you yourself change. Which means your tastes, no matter how similar they remain, can often change so the same “metrics’might not apply.

    2. people can change quite drastically from middle school to high school. So the cute features might have evolved in something a bit more pronounced or squared.

    3. depends on why you liked them. Sometimes we like the whole package (“oh he’s cute, and funny and smart”) so when or more things change the whole crush/like becomes less powerful until it just fades.

Just a while shot in the dark guess. Prehaps around puberty when your body is getting bombarded with new emotions and feelings it might be difficult for one to Guage the intensity of their emotions until a few more years of experience  dealing with these hormones and new feelings

Best looking guy at my 5th year reunion was the little boy that no one ever paid much attention to in high school. Popped up to over six feet and looked great. It’s a time when people change a lot!

Because puberty, and actually aging in general, changes the shape of your body and face. For instance, as I matured into my twenties my cheekbones became more prominent, as did my jawline. So I am a much more attractive 40-year-old than I was a 20 year old.

Wait until you get into your 30s+. I see soooo many men on social media who were handsome in high school and college, but not anymore. The women, on the other hand, seem to look much better. Idk.

They lost their baby faces. Their jaws strengthen and their bone structure really comes in to play. It removes the softness and replaces it with more sharp angular features.
