The answer probably related to the weather (Spain, Italy or Greece) but would love to hear what ppl think.
Edit: mopeds included.

I remember reading in an automotive magazine that in Greece there is the higher number of motorbikes per capita. And since I live in Greece, I have the same feeling that bikes are a sizable percentage of the vehicles on the road and definitely way more that other EU countries.
If ‘scooters’ are included, the Italians give anybody a run for their money. If you’re talking about the fully leatherclad recreational type driver than the UK has a good amount of those (judging by the numbers buzzing around at weekend around our place).
It makes sense that Southern European countries have the most motorbike owners, since the weather allows riding a motorbike year-round. In Finland, motorbike riding is a hobby. It’s something you do when snow and ice melts, and temperatures stay above freezing. Because of this, motorbikes are generally seen as secondary transport (unless you’re a teen with a light motorcycle license). While it’s technically possible to ride a motorbike in winters, very few people actually do so. And even in those cases, it’s still a hobby. Not primary transport.
I’d say Italy,or maybe some of the Greek islands,in my experience.
Obviously if we are including scooters. These are much more common than large motorbikes here.
It does vary a fair amount depending where you live exactly, what kind of city and what kind of weather!
Down here in Palermo almost every family has at least one scooter, sometimes they have three or four.
Narrow streets, lots of traffic, lack of parking spaces, poor public transport and good weather most of the year.
I came across an article that stated that Italy has the most motorcycles per capita, followed by Greece, according to statistics. Couldn’t find the statistics they quoted, though.
I’m pretty sure the correct answer is Greece. I have to mention though that Northern Ireland has a huge motorbike scene and a lot of us are fans of street circuit racing. We have the North West 200 which is well known internationally and it feels like half the country attends it. There’s also the Tandragee 100, Ulster GP and Cookstown 100. We’re also a 3-5 hour ferry ride from the Isle of Man GP too.
Greek here – hard call, Spain, Italy and Greece all have high number of (scooters and papaki) motorcycles and, at least for me, fantastic roads on which to enjoy them. I think it is Italy…while as a % of all vehicles Greece wins (at least in the 20% range) but the most in numbers is Italy which has about 350k registrations per year.
According to this, it has Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Spain and Czech Republic as first five. https://www.nationmaster.com/nmx/ranking/motorcycle-ownership
Which would link to good weather… and Switzerland money.
