Which is the largest city in your state that attracts very few or almost no tourists?

r/

Why is that? Too much competition,in the wrong location, nothing interesting to see or do there,or something else?

    San Jose.

It’s just a big boring suburb.

It’s the biggest city in the state, Little Rock.

There’s nothing there. It was an important river port city a long time ago, now it’s the state capital and has some industrial activity. But nobody goes there for fun.

Probably the Tri-Cities (Kennewick, Pasco & Richland). It’s one of the larger metro areas in Washington (pop. over 300k) but is practically unknown. Even many folks from western Washington aren’t really aware of it.

It’s mostly suburb, adjacent to the Columbia River and the Hanford nuclear reservation.

    Portland Oregon doesn’t bring many tourists, but unfortunately it does attract a lot of Californians ;{

I’d guess Lakeland, Florida. It’s not on the coast and has no attractions. The only reason I ever pull off of I4 and stop there is because there’s a pretty good Mongolian bbq place right off the highway.

    Aurora, probably.

It’s technically the 2nd largest city in the state behind Chicago but there’s not much to do there unless you’re looking to go to the single casino or want Mexican/South American food.

Even in Illinois people think of Naperville, Springfield, Evanston, Oak Park, etc. before Aurora.

Probably El Paso. Of all the big cities in Texas, I’ve never heard anyone say they were going to El Paso for fun (for business, yes). It’s probably because it is so far away from most of the other major cities—I could drive to Florida faster than I could drive to El Paso. It’s possible that people who live closer, go there more.

Appleton, WI? I think it’s popular for having the opposing football team’s players stay in the hotel there because of the accommodations being more beneficial for those that play the Green Bay Packers. I know it draws some tourists from around the state but few out-of-state tourists I believe.

Well Kent and Everett are the sixth and seventh largest cities in Washington respectively and I’m pretty sure the only appealing part of these cities to tourists is that they’re relatively close to Seattle

In Georgia, that would have to be Augusta! It’s the 2nd largest population, but unfortunately, it just doesn’t attract many tourists.

I think part of the reason is because you have Atlanta & then the coast (to include Savannah), & the mountains, so Augusta just gets overlooked…

It’s definitely worth a weekend getaway type of visit, though. There are unique attractions like the Augusta Canal Discovery Center, which is Georgia’s first National Heritage Area, museums like The Morris Museum of Art, dedicated to art & artists from the South, cultural events (check out The Miller Theater’s performance schedule) & festivals like Arts in the Heart, & it’s Georgia’s second oldest city!

Roswell, Ga. 92K people. A northern Atlanta suburb. Its a nice place, but why would anyone from outside the area go there? No reason.
