Sega Genesis. It came with Madden 95 and Sonic the Hedgehog. 😂

  6. Slim_Grim13 Avatar

    It was either a Ps1 or a Nintendo 64 🤔

  7. Lost-Spell3604 Avatar

Sega master system was the first one I played as older brother had it

PlayStation 1 was the first one that was mine

  8. lordoflotsofocelots Avatar

    ATARI 2600.

    Next was a Gameboy.

Still angry with my mum that she just dumped the ATARI. Parents didn’t know better back then.

  9. Ganmor_Denlay Avatar

    Sega master system

  10. Ill_Gas8697 Avatar

Does the Tomy Racing Turbo count?

  11. Popular_Speed5838 Avatar

A Commodore 64 with a tape deck for games. It took over half an hour to load a complex game. Bomb Jack, Jupiter landing, Fist II and California games were my favourites. California games wasn’t on tape, a friend had a Commodore 64 with a disc drive though.

  12. FoxPowerful4230 Avatar

Atari. Actually, it was a Sears Tele-Games, so an Atari knockoff.

  13. werewolf_there_wolf Avatar

Technically the first one I ever had was a Super Nintendo, but my cousin had the first Nintendo console that I played on all the time at his house. He lived next door. I played mega man, teenage mutant ninja turtles, and even jaws lol.

  14. Yardballin Avatar

I was one when NES came out so I won’t claim that. I vividly remember getting an SNES on my birthday in 1991.

  15. StanleyTeller Avatar

    Ps1 baby, loved it.

    The Toy Story racers game

  16. Bshellsy Avatar

SNES back in the early 90’s

  17. Colonel_Moopington Avatar

Nintendo combo pack with the NES, the light gun and the running pad. Came with Mario, Duck Hunt, and a Game that used the running pad.

  18. sudonem Avatar

    Commodore 64.

Although they had been out for a few heads by the time we got it. I think my dad got it from work when it was being decommissioned because my mother had needed to learn some MS-DOS, Q-Basic and WordPerfect.

I tinkered with those, but mostly played a lot of Spy Hunter, Pac-Man and Arkanoid.

It was soon followed by an NES.

I have distinct memories of being “grounded” and sent to bed early for no good reason. (Because my parents wanted a turn)

    That was some bullshit. 😂

  19. Iad77 Avatar

NES with duck Hunt and mario bros….

    But before that I had a commodore 16+4 😂

  20. BallisticThundr Avatar

First console was the Gameboy advanced sp. First home console was the Wii

  21. PaddywackShaq Avatar

A Gameboy was my first console ever, though it’s technically a handheld. My first home console was a PS2 I received from a family friend, but I barely played it. My first true home console that I got and played religiously was the PS2.

The family had an NES, but the first system that was genuinely mine and not something my parents bought for my brother and I to share was a Playstation.

  32. 99999999999999999989 Avatar

The brand was…something that no longer exists. But it played THREE separate games!

    1. Two player Pong
    2. Two player Handball
    3. One player Handball

My brother and I played it so much we got thrown out of the house.

  33. elciddog84 Avatar

Atari 2600. Dad hogged it every evening. Then the 5200. On my own? NES with Duck Hunt and Tetris (original).

  34. Smileyz420_ Avatar

PlayStation 1 or game cube not sure which was first.

  35. ent_bomb Avatar

Growing up, I would play my folks’ Atari 2600.

I then saved up for like two years to buy a console of my very own: the ill-fated Tiger Game.com

  36. 40Breath Avatar

    Atari 2600, I’m old

  37. 0peRightBehindYa Avatar

Atari 2600 with wood paneling to match my house.

Pong, though it and the 2600 were more my dad’s. The NES was bought for my brother and I

  43. sexless-innkeeper Avatar

Coleco Telstar Ranger Video Game System. It had tennis, jai-alai, handball, hockey (don’t remember that.) and 2 different types of target shooting (skeet and target) for the light gun.

  44. ArmaKiri Avatar

    N64 with ocarina of time

  45. Keif325 Avatar

    Atari…the original.

  46. MaximusVulcanus Avatar

For those presenting early PCs like Commadores (they get a pass… all mine was for was gaming, too), I had a TI-99 4A that had a keyboard with a cartridge slot. Had a lot of the same games as Atari and the wildest thing was a data cassette player that to my knowledge was only necessary for one flight simulator game that took ages load.

  47. InteractionFast9213 Avatar

Atari 2600. It was amazing! Then my friend came round and broke it.

  48. Danibear285 Avatar

    I don’t remember. I killed my nostalgia

  49. PM-ME-UR-KNICKERS Avatar

NES with 4 games. Second hand for £100 a long long time ago

  50. lukke009 Avatar

Sega Genesis in the late 90s

  51. luckymountain Avatar

Pong, if that counts. Then my little brothers had Intellivision. Pitfall was the game of choice.

  52. ThrowawayMod1989 Avatar

Got the N64 at midnight from Toys R Us in 1998 on the night that Ocarina of Time released.

PS2 with a copy of Gran Turismo 4 prologue, good old times

  54. DerpyPotatos Avatar

    Nintendo Gamecube

  55. Jethro_James_Smith Avatar

Technically Xbox but the oldest console would be a snes or 64

  56. alxndrblack Avatar

Sega Game Gear. That Mickey Mouse game was hard as fuck, as was Lion King

  57. SXOSXO Avatar

Me personally? SNES. But before that we had the Atari 2600, ColecoVision and NES in our household, and I would have to have permission to even touch them whenever I wanted to play.

  58. boobenhaus Avatar

    Sega Master System

  59. TheEmperor0fNothing Avatar

A PS1 that’s been around for as long as I can remember. Seriously, I don’t even remember receiving it. It’s just always been there.

Which is especially weird because I know for a fact that my parents hated video games and they probably wouldn’t have kept one around before I spawned into the world.

  60. Answerologist Avatar
  61. Angry_GorillaBS Avatar

Atari. Don’t remember specifically which version

  62. ben-hur-hur Avatar

Gameboy DMG 1. Played the hell out out of Mario land 2 as we couldn’t afford much else at the time. Then Pokemon dropped and man did that change me.

  75. lacaras21 Avatar

NES was the first I played, but it technically belonged to my sister who had it since before I was born, same with a DMG Gameboy. We got a SNES which was for both of us to share. The first system that was 100% mine was a Gameboy Color, the first home console that was just mine was a Nintendo 64.

  76. GuessWhoItsJosh Avatar

SNES. Dad came home from a garage sale with it in ’99/’00.

  77. Ecstatic_Lab9010 Avatar

NES with Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt with the Zapper.

  78. pikkdogs Avatar

Bought myself? GameCube. 64 I think was a gift to me. SNES, NES, and Atari were my brothers. But I grew up on them all.

  79. JediActorMuppet Avatar

The OG Atari 2600. And we got it probably 2 years after it was really hot, basically the last house to get one like everything. Probably the best thing was we got a lot of games right away because they were starting to put them on clearance.

  80. suicidemachine Avatar

Tomb Raider on Playstation. I was 10 years old and I remember my mom wanted me to stop playing it, due to the fact how Lara moved her hips while walking. Hahaha, true story.

  81. Fernis_ Avatar

My own? Pegasus, soviet block NES bootleg console. My dad had C64 too, that I was alowed to use under supervision.

  82. Just_a_Ginger_Fella Avatar

I had the NES that came with Gyromite and Duck Hunt and had the light zapper and the little robot ROB, which was awesome by the way.

  83. Mythnam Avatar

N64. Played the hell out of that thing.

  84. Switchgamer1970 Avatar

    Atari 2600. Great times.

    Atari2600 with Combat

  89. sparxcy Avatar

I got an ATARI in 1975 that just came out and was a lot of money to get!!! It was sold as a “space invaders’ console. All it played was ‘space Invaders’ on really slow with a lot of speeds upto really fast!!!! Then i could play SI at home instead of going down the arcade!

  90. IMowGrass Avatar
  91. BigPapiKC Avatar

PS1 with Twisted Metal, WWF In Your House (I think), and Syphon Filter.

  92. Bmkrocky Avatar

can’t remember what it was but it was 1984 and the different programs and games were on cassette tapes

  93. MasterTeacher123 Avatar

N64. But it was really my brothers although he let me play. The first one I had himself was PlayStation 1.

  94. sadrice Avatar

Super NES. Taught myself to read out of the Donkey Kong Country player’s guide. I think that’s actually a great method, it has level maps so I already knew what it was showing without being able to read, I can see that it shows there’s a secret there, but I wanted to know what the description text said. The guide is a bit formulaic in its use of language, there’s only so many ways you can say “hidden life balloon here”, so it was pretty easy to recognize words. There’s a bunch of bananas with a label “bunch of bananas”? Pretty simple.

  95. hevnztrash Avatar

My older brother had an Atari 2600. My cousins had a ColecoVision. I had an NES with light gun and power pad- Super Mario Bros/ Duck Hunt/ Track Meet combo.

  102. ShadowXY_27XY Avatar

  103. cactusjackalope Avatar

TurboGrafx 16! Splatterhouse was a fave, as well as Bonk.

I got it bec I figured I’d want something different from my friends, turns out having friends with the same console means you can trade games. Oh well

  104. tonebone85 Avatar

Genesis. But the first console i bout with my own money when I was 11 was a ps1 with resident evil and cool boarders

  105. i-might-do-that Avatar
