When I was a kid in the 80s, Hostess Twinkies were advertised all over the place. I’ve never heard them mentioned or seen them advertised in ages. But I still see them at convenience stores.
So who exactly is buying and eating those Twinkies?

Probably people who grew up eating them. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had one. We were a Little Debbie household.
No idea, I’ve never even had one.
Just the ones I find on Grindr.
Twinks
This is a weird pickup line
Maybe people who’ve had them as a kid and are nostalgic for them.
I’ve never had one and have no desire to even try them at this point in life.
I ate two of them tonight. Literally three hours ago.
Marijuana enthusiasts.
My 10 year old daughter asked me to buy them so she could try them.
Nobody. Those are the same ones that were on the shelf in the 80s. They’re still good.
I work at 7/11 I sometimes get them not often
I enjoy them, though I do prefer Hostess cupcakes.
I eat a few a year I think, they magically show up in my life. Its an American delicacy
I love twinkies. Zingers more though.
I have loved Twinkies since I was a kid. I still eat them. I miss Suzie Qs
Not twinkies, but I’ve been having a devil of a time getting off ding-dongs. The cakes, you pervs.
I had one for the first time in years about six months ago. It was pretty awful. I used to love Twinkies and was so disappointed. But I find that with a lot of snack cakes I used to love. I just find them too sweet now.
They are so gross now, don’t know what’s changed, me or them
I used to get Chocodiles – they were chocolate coated Twinkies that you could buy just one for 25 cents. And a pack of Twinkies was like 60 cents. I felt like I was getting over on the man.
Used to… Havent had in a long long time.
My mom never bought us stuff like that, so I didn’t get them as a kid unless a friend shared with me. I know I have had them, but it has been years and years, probably decades.
All the cakes suck now. Ever since they sub out butter for oil and all the junk they put in them. Taste like butt now. And just get greasy fingers.
I buy a pack every couple of years, usually on a whim. My family never bought them when I was a kid, but I still got them on special occasions. The flavor and experience was so magical, the nostalgia is strong
Children. Teens. People feeling snacky. Though I prefer a Krimpet.
Idk. When I was a kid, my mom would never let me have that stuff. Now that I’m an adult, they kind of make me queasy. But if I am going to subject my stomach to snack cakes, it’s going to be the little orange cupcakes.
Wait? They still exist?
No clue, I haven’t had one since my stepdad randomly bought a pack when I first moved in with them in like 2008. Never had one before, never had one since, though I remember it being okay enough when I was stoned.
Never had a Twinkie. Honey Buns were the trash ultra processed snack in my house growing up.
Been meaning to try a Twinkie for like a decade, for the culture. But I always forget when I’m in the store.
Oh, no, the Twinkies you see on the shelves are still the same ones from the ’80s.
Random reference but I always got a craving for them when I watched that Iron Giant scene when Hogarth shoves a whipped cream container in one and fills it up. Anyway, idk haven’t had one in years
I think the ones you saw have actually been there since the 80’s. They have a very long shelf-life.
Nobody except hardcore Twinkie fans, they don’t even taste good anymore
Very rarely I will get them. I’m talking like once a year max, less of Twinkies specifically. We get Ding Dongs or Hostess Cupcakes if we go camping because it’s a tradition for my husband. They must be frozen solid.
No idea. The only people I’ve ever seen eat them were crackheads or homeless people.
I’m 31 and have never eaten one. I’m a sucker for the “chocolate” wax donuts from the same section of the gas station once in a while though
I’ve never had one but I did see banana flavored ones the other day
I have never liked Twinkies. A Ding Dong though…mmm.
Having said that, I’m too old to eat those things these days. Try to keep the temple filled with the good stuff now.
I ate them a lot before they were discontinued for that gap, but the process in the new company doesn’t line their pans with the flour for those wetter corners. Those raspberry coconut zingers are amazing before and after.

If I was a kid I would. Not as an adult who admittedly very minimally cares about health, I mean as grown ups we know not to eat unhealthy foods. But i’m sure there’s still tons of young people eating
I don’t eat them often now. When I do, I like to freeze them.
I’ll pick some up on road trips, although recently someone suggested throwing them in the air fryer until warmed and slightly crisp. They’re a pretty good late nite post imbibing snack.
Me and a buddy bought , like, 20 boxes when they first came back. We ate them all, they were mediocre, and havent had one since. This was high school, lol.
I am a cashier in a grocery store. They have a display of blue-filled twinkies like 30 feet from me.
Stoners and teenagers with schools near convenience stores
Winston Predmore and Egon Spengler
I feel I am too old to be buying such things, but if a box of Twinkies magically appeared in my house I would easily eat them all in one day lol
I used to eat them but for some reason I don’t like them as much nowadays. Either they taste different or I just lost my preference for them. I’m guessing my taste buds just changed
Me. But you have to buy a box of them. The two-pack Twinkies are not as good as the individually wrapped ones. (I’ve also found this to be true for Swiss Cake Rolls. I know, Hostess v. Little Debbie, but still true.)
Haven’t eaten anything by hostess in years, even though Hostess sold their products to another company. It’s all garbage ingredients
I’m definitely buying at least one pack a year but idk anyone who’s eating them regularly
I get them once in a blue moon but there are other hostess treats I’d prefer.
I absolutely love them.. so i cannot buy them .. i could eat a box in a day
I like Snoballs. Can’t get them in Canada, oddly enough. Sometimes I’ll find Tunnocks Snowballs which are superior, but different.
I eat them all the time.
They are great for strawberry shortcake.
My homie brought a box into work and I buried two of them suckers last week.
3 bites, one for each cream bungole, and they’re gone!
I have a pack of banana ones atm. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but it’s kinda nice to have something noone else wants to eat.
I’m a Little Debbie fan but as a kid, I could (and have) eaten an entire box of twinkies 😡
I just don’t enjoy them the same as I used to… 🙁
Weird Al fans. Apparently it’s actually pretty good. Reviews are much more mixed about dipping it in milk.
Woody Harrelson
I can’t remember the last time I had a twinkie. I am in my 40s and remember eating them as a kid but never as an adult.
My mom found a recipe for homemade Twinkie cake.
I have them once every 3-4 months.
They are good in moderation and have fewer calories than most packaged snack cakes at convenient stores.
I bought a box of Twinkies after they came back on the market. That was probably the summer of 2013. I haven’t had one since.
I don’t really like them myself too sugary and slimey
We never bought them for our kids and my nieces and nephews never had them either so for dessert on Christmas , we had gotten twinkies, krimpets, HoHos, Funny Bonz and honey buns. We cut them up into bite sized pieces and arranged them on a platter for everyone to try. The adults had more fun from a nostalgic point of view, the kids were not impressed.
I still do here and there but this weird thing happens where I get older and sugary processed box food sucks more. It’s terrible
Same as moon pies. Just better and more options now. I would imagine the advert spend wasn’t producing the uplift in sales anymore and it’s just a retired line.
Didn’t twinkies stop being made for a while about 10 years ago?
Not me, they don’t taste good. I enjoy a sugary treat, but a hostess product that I can’t pronounce the names of most of the ingredients will never be my go to
> When I was a kid in the 80s, Hostess Twinkies were advertised all over the place.
Are you still watching exclusively children’s programming from sources that have ads?
I never liked Twinkies, but I did like a lot of other packaged treats. I had some Hostess pies, Swiss cake rolls, and Airheads this week. I guess people who liked Twinkies as kids probably still buy them.
“Boy, the way Glen Miller played”
Nostalgia seekers, mostly. I enjoyed them occasionally as a kid but I think most people realized that there’s much better snacks out there. Including Gansitos, which are so much better than Twinkies.
I think I last had a Twinkie may e 10 years ago, and best i can describe the yayse was “fake” it was many years before that thay it last had one before that.
They are made completely differently now than they were in my youth.
They don’t taste as good as they did back in the day.
Twinkie’s were my guilty pleasure in the 70s and 80s as a kid, I loved those things! I see them at stores now and wonder what they taste like these days but I quit eating them in my 20s and never had another. I’m 59 now. I’m sure it would disappoint me to have one now so I’ll leave it a mystery.
I’ve eaten maybe 2 Twinkies in my life. Swiss Cake Rolls on the other hand…
I had a Twinkie for the first time last month. It was nothing special, just a bland yellow sponge cake with cream. I don’t understand why some people go crazy for them.
My 14 year old whenever he enters a convenience store.
I make the concentrate Hostess (well, JM Smucker) uses to make Twinkies at work, so I have no desire. But we still make it, so people must be eating them.
Someone bought me one in college. It wasn’t good, so I never ate one again.
I caught one at a Mardi Gras parade this year. It had probably been 20 years or more since I had one. They’ve tempered the chemical taste and it wasn’t icky-sicky sweet. Or maybe I’d been drinking and wasn’t very discerning. But it wasn’t as bad as I expected. I wouldn’t go out and buy a box, but if I catch one at another parade, I won’t automatically hand it off to some kid.
Every few years I’ll get nostalgic and forget how awful they are and I’ll eat one. I swear when I was a kid they were amazing. Everything little Debbie or hostess was the best thing ever to a 8 yr old. Now I’m pretty sure they are made of sweetened styrofoam and caulk.
Before Hostess was sold (I think bankruptcy) Twinkies were gritty and flavorless.
A few years ago I gave a package another shot because nostalgia. I was not disappointed! They’re delicious again! That being said, I’ll only buy a 2 pack and treat myself once or twice a year because old and fat.
When I was a kid, my friends and I would sometimes play the local golf course in the summer (no, we weren’t rich, parents just wanted me to do something outside) and when we finished I always had a 7-Up and some Twinkies in the clubhouse afterwards. It’s the only time I ever ate them.
I buy them on the occasion of a road trip and we stop off in a gas station. Just feels right
I haven’t had a Twinkie in over 10 years
They are a horrible imitation of the original Twinkie. I bought a box and still have 8 left.
No flavor and about 3/4 of the size.
I stopped eating them in the 90s.
There’s a Hostess commercial that plays that features Twinkies so people are probably still eating them. Probably stoners and children.
A lot of elementary schools will only allow kids to bring in treats for their birthday if they’re individually wrapped and not homemade. Twinkies are popular at my kids school for this reason.
I like them occasionally, but it’s not an everyday snack or anything.
Like once a year I’ll have a mad craving for twinkies and buy a box. Something about it just hits. About the only time I eat those kind of sweets anymore.
I tried one a few years back and they aren’t remotely what they were in the 70s when I grew up. Probably because they replaced sugar with high-fructose corn syrup.
The banana Twinkies are pretty good.
I always liked raspberry Zingers better.
It has to have been at least 20 years since I had one, but I kind of want one now.
I get them like once a year.
I do, haven’t had one in a while but I have 3 sitting in a cabinet as we speak.
Haven’t had one in probably 15 years cause I honestly forgot about them. I’d eat one again though
I made your favorite dessert: Store-bought snack cakes!
I’m pretty sure my dad is the reason hostess is still in business. I can’t wrap my head around how he still likes these. He can afford nicer treats. But then again I still fuck with a box of Kraft Mac n cheese every now and again, and it hits the spot every time. So maybe it’s a nostalgia thing
Europeans that come to America and try our shittiest foods and then complain on reddit about how American food sucks and is bad for you. They’re also the only ones still eating spray cheeze and wonder bread.
No one really. Hostess went out of business and came back but the cakes were never the same.
We visited Egypt in 2021 and saw an ad for Twinkies. Our guides noticed we commented on the ad and then kept buying us twinkies. LOL. That is the last time we had them. We never even think to buy them for ourselves.
I used to eat them until they went bankrupt and now they don’t taste right
I still look at them longingly when I see a new flavor in the store. But I don’t buy
I was very depressed last month and hadn’t eaten anything in two days. My buddy drove me over to a mutual friends house and I bought a packet of twinkies and a double decker oatmeal cookie cream sandwich at a gas station on the way there.
I’m doing much better now.
I just tried a Twinkie for the first time in my life a few months ago. My 18 year old asked what twinkies taste like and I told her I couldn’t tell her, but maybe dad could. He was shocked I’d never eaten a Twinkie before until I reminded him I have a health nut hippy mom. My daughter came home the next day with a box of twinkies. There are 3 missing from the box but the rest now live in the back of my pantry.
They aren’t the same. They are smaller and taste like chemicals now.
When I was a kid they were big and sometimes they made strawberry ones. God those were good.
Once a year maybe twice. As a treat. But, they are not the same of my youth.
They suck now. As do most snack cakes from my childhood in the 80s.
It’s fine. I really shouldn’t be eating sweets as much as I did when I was a kid anyway so now I make a special trip once in a while and get my treats from the bakery. More expensive but actually worth the calories and money.
I actually just had a Twinkie for the first time in probably 30 years around a week ago. They had them in the little snack area at the grocery store checkout and I grabbed on on a whim. Honestly, not a bad little snack to have with black coffee.
Kids. At least that’s when I ate them
I’m 33, Michigan, I haven’t seen anyone eat a Twinkie since I was like 8. I actually don’t understand how they are still in business.
I’ll buy a box every few years, when I think about what they used to taste like when I was a kid. I’m always disappointed, but I’ll forget it in a few years and do it again.
I’m 63 and never had a Twinkie, they just look vile.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a Twinkie. I grew up eating Tastykake. Also, we had an Entenmann’s outlet nearby growing up, so we were usually stocked with that. I still love the chocolate cake with marshmallow icing.
That guy in Zombieland, he’s probably still eating them when he finds them
Suzy Q. Twinkies suck unless it’s a chocodile. All of them nowadays are the fucking worst. They’ve whittled them down into the most disgusting things ever. Little Debbie’s even worse. You can actually feel the granulated sugar in every bite. Bought them for my kids for a treat and nostalgia and they were disgusted.
True. I wouldn’t not eat a Twinkie but I can’t say I buy them or seek them out
I’m 34 and never had one in my life
This older guy at my work (60+) occasionally buys a big box of them and leaves them in the kitchen for everyone.
Growing up my family was an Entemann’s family so I never really ate them much. When I did rarely grab a Hostess item for myself it was usually Hohos.
I laughed because they were on Dr. Oddessy
I live in a condo building. Our receptionist eats Twinkies constantly. She is in her 60’s. Skinny as all get out. She always has a box on her desk and one partially eaten. I thought they were discontinued.
Oddly enough had some last week. I was at 711. They were there. Figured I’d dive back into that pond. Total impulse buy. The cream was not as I remember.
I get a box of them once or twice a year I guess. They’re nostalgic.
Me. I eat those twinkies.
I never did even back in the day. No chocolate = not worth my time
I feel like the main consumer of the Twinkie is someone who was a kid during their peak advertising time. Kind of like how it’s only grandpas who are eating werthers originals.
🙋♀️
I don’t buy them but, if you offer me one, I won’t turn it down.
I didn’t even eat Twinkies back then. They’re just not good.
I think I’m gonna go get myself Twinkie now
I was more of a Star Crunch gal myself
Did they used to taste better? I ate them just because of their longstanding reputation but they just taste like grease so I stopped.
Honestly, I never really cared for Twinkies. The Hostess cupcakes were the real OGs.
As a grown man without kids, I haven’t seen a snack cake in 20 years
They don’t taste the same
They’re horrible now. If you actually remember them you wouldn’t eat them. Little Debi is the way to go
Worked 4 years in a bakery where hostess products were made. Wouldn’t eat them if you paid me to.
I ate them as a kid. I don’t like them now. I think, maybe, one out of four of my kids like them.
My grandma would feed us nothing but twinkies, diet pepsi, and other junk food when our mom left us with her. As an adult, there is NO WAY IN HELL I would ever eat another one.
They so disgusting now! Tasted much better as a kid Little Debbie is terrible also
I finally kicked my Twinkie habit, but I still eat the mini-donuts….
I grew up in Tastykake territory, so I’m not sure I’ve had an actual Twinkie.
Hopefully nobody.
I keep some in my freezer cos I do love a frozen Twinkie now and again.
They don’t taste the same as they did tho 🙁
“Who eats Twinkies these days?”
Bob.
Bob eats them.
My husband used to love them as a kid. I never had them because hippie parents. I bought some a few weeks ago at his request, and they weren’t the same as he remembered. So I ate them instead. They were just as wonderful and as horrible as I imagined they would be.
Kids and bachelors
Me. Especially chocolate twinkies.
My 84 year old dad eats them as they ‘help make sure my pills go down’. 🙂
Before I was diagnosed as celiac I was eating them everyday
I last had one around age 11. I’ll be 60 soon and can still taste that chemical nightmare.
Yo. I get a Twinkie about twice a year, but Ding Dongs are my jam.
I was a teenager when I had my first twinkie. It was nasty. Didn’t understand why everyone loved them so much. The snowballs are yummy.
I’ve never had a Twinkie
Hostess tastes nothing like it did in the old days. And as any fan knows, when they finally re introduced Susie Q’s after shutting down, it was a whole different cake and the outrage made them discontinue them and finally reintroduce them as the old Susie Q’s…. Before finally getting rid of Susie Q’s all together. What a joke.
It’s me.
although it takes 2 modern twinkies to equal the size of 1 80s twinkie.
I have one every few years or so if they are offered. nostalgia only.
I had an ex who liked to get one every once in a while.
I see kids getting them still in my area in lunches (any of those kind of those cheap snack cakes)
I love em, but they definitely are not the same as when I was a kid.
I stopped eating them a few years ago when they changed the formula again and they became dry and not tasty. We didn’t have them a lot, but once in a while we’d want them and we’d get a box. The last box was just… Disappointing.
I prefer Zingers
