Spirit Halloween has officially opened near me, so I’m using this as a sign to kickstart planning my Halloween costume. No kids or spouse, but I will be passing out candy at home. My workplace also has an annual office trick or treating competition that I’ll dress up for. Here are some ideas I’ve had so far:
* Wednesday Addams (Easy solo costume. Already have black clothes, so I’d just need a wig and accessories.)
* Girl scout (Unfortunately, all adult costumes are of the “sexy” variety, so I’m not sure where to find office-appropriate clothes.)
Comments
I think for girl scout you could get some modest length (office friendly) khaki/OD shorts and a button up khaki/OD shirt and go from there…pigtails, a hat/beret, a shash, some fun pins…
I love being sexy for Halloween but now it’s gonna be my friend’s proposal and I dont want my ass out in those pictures so I’m torn
I come from a place where we don’t celebrate Halloween.
Thrift stores are great for costume shopping! You don’t need to spend a ton, and you can alter them without stressing over ruining an expensive piece.
My husband and I like to DIY our own costumes. It is always so low effort, but year after year, we get SO many compliments! We’ve done Wayne and Garth, Jay and Silent Bob, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy (that was a huge hit), Marty McFly and Doc Brown, and last year with our kids we did the hunter, granny, (were)wolf and little Red Riding Hood. This year, my oldest kid wants to be Gandalf, so I am trying to plan all that out!
I love dressing up for Halloween and usually make or put together my own costume using secondhand pieces. I might reuse something I wore for covid but I also can’t decide if I want to do something different? I’m feeling uninspired this year, but I really want to dress up either way
Ozzy Osbourne. I have a lot of black clothes, heavy metal style accessories, sunglasses, and I have long hair that is similar to how his looked when it was slightly reddish/auburn. If I have to purchase any items, it won’t be very many. I might buy a cane with a skull on it, maybe some rings. I love when I can create a costume out of stuff I already own, and he was one of my favourite singers, so, win win.
I’m currently Pregnant as a surrogate so I’m considering going as a handmaid if I can find the costume cheap enough.
Legends of the hidden temple contestant.. we will see how many people have watched the show where I work
Husband and I have been watching Ted Lasso, so he’s going to be Ted and I’m going to be Zava. 😂
I thrifted this long red dress that would be perfect for a costume, but I can only think of Cruella De Vil.
Anyone have any other ideas for a long red dress?
(Note: I was already Jessica Rabbit last year cause I thrifted a different perfect red dress 😂)
Yup. I’m doing little Bo peep and doing the claw game from Toy Story for trunk or treat.
I may dress up when passing out candy at home but so far my only plans are trunk or treat for a work event.
I’m a mom and I’m dressing up with my kid for as long as she’ll let me, so her choices dictate my costumes. We’re on choice number 3, and she has decided she wants to be Jinu from Kpop Demon Hunters, and I’ll be Rumi. I am not looking forward to figuring out how to make a traditional Korean outfit and trying to be not offensive about it. She could have picked Jinu’s Soda Pop outfit, but noooo.
I originally wanted to be the Antler Queen or frozen Jackie from Yellowjackets, but I’m going to be traveling and don’t want to carry anything bulky like antlers or a letterman jacket, so I’m actually going to be my username funnily enough. I’m going as Veronica from Heathers after the explosion. Basically just need a cardigan, shirt, and skirt and some soot/ash makeup.
Leeloo Dallas Multipass!
I ordered the pieces off Etsy last year after I dyed my hair red-orange, lol.
I went as AMC Nicole Kidman two years ago when Barbenheimer blew up that summer.
I CAN NEVER TOP THAT.
I don’t dress up myself, so my only concern is my son’s costume. This year he’ll be Ryder from Paw Patrol. I may doof up his hair with a little pomade to get the full look.
I’ve always liked to DIY my costumes from scratch. This year I’m thinking either Tina Belcher from Bob’s Burgers or Mother Nature.
I’m going to be either a gnome or a Hobbit, depending on if I can find a good gnome hat. Long skirt, earth tones, flowy cottagecore vibes. Nature-themed accessories. Maybe a cute basket with some snacks.
It’s something cute I can wear to work, it’s comfy enough for all day, recognizable enough that I won’t have to spend all my time explaining it, and I can re-use it for the ren faire next year.
I sure do! I’m reusing my same costume from last year. Last year (when I got all the pieces together) I announced that this is now my go to costume. I washed it Nov 1st and sealed it in a vacuum bag.
Sexy costumes are my favorite but I decided on Frodo. I’ve just put pieces together but omg I’m so excited. I’m also five feet so that helps.
My dude and I were planning to be Angela and Dwight (or Dwangela) from The Office because he’s Rainn Wilson’s height and I’m a little shorter than Angela.
But it looks like he’ll be abroad so I’m trying to come up with an idea that fits my usual theme. Since around 2010, if I dress up (I’ve missed some years lately), I dress as a badass woman from history that most people have never heard of. My favorite so far has been King Jadwiga of Poland. I’ve been planning to be Boudica for some years but I may be running too low on time to bring her to life properly…
Me! I usually rotate old cosplays though. I have Philomena Cunk for my office party and Thorn Princess as my sexy costume.
I was told I’m being a witch this year lol. 4 year decided that she and I are witches, husband and 10 year old are wolves lol.
I’m going as the Phillies Karen, and convinced my husband to be the Polish millionaire hat snatcher.
My partner and I do DIY. Last year we were a puppet and a puppet master.
It was pretty hot ngl..
