Hi everyone. So I’ve been getting into the Latin American rock scene lately, and I found a lot of the songs to be catchy (for instance Los Prisioneros’s Estrachez de Corazon is a banger). However, I’m just curious as to what bands are the most famous in their respective countries.

Mana
In Chile it’s probably Los Prisioneros as you said or maybe los Bunkers or los Tres
Voces Universitarias de Honduras
Famous inside the country or broad?
Inside Brazil probably it’s Legião Urbana. But abroad, Sepultura.
Caramelos de Cianuro. Listen to Sanitarios or Veronica.
Internationally, I would say Soda Stereo. I recommend listening to Persiana Americana and Nada Personal to start. I also recommend Serú Girán, which is an amazing band with a long history, probably the most Rock & Roll band in terms of shit they’ve pulled off, but not necessarily on how they sound, as they were really experimental and took a lot of inspiration from a miriad of different genres. I particularly like the song Tu Amor and also recommend Perro Andaluz, and from the same Singer/Songwriter from Serú Girán, I recommend Nos Siguen Pegando Abajo. The use of odd time signatures on the song makes it vibe hard, with a great and catchy guitar riff and an ironically upbeat sensation to the song, which straight up opens with allusions to a pedophile getting beat up.
Soda Stereo. I recommend “En la ciudad de la furia”, which is one of their best known songs and one of my favorites. Soda is the most famous Argentine band internationally, then you have bands like Serú Giran (I recommend “Peperina”) or Los Rendondos (abbreviated; I recommend “Salando las heridas”). These last two bands are very famous in Argentina, but not so much abroad. Then there are other important groups.
Gustavo Cerati (vocalist of Soda Stereo) and Charly Garcia (Serú Giran) also have very worthwhile solo careers.
De argentina Soda Estereo calculo
Venezuela: Los Amigos Invisibles, Caramelos de Cianuro, Rawayana.
For Colombia: Morat or Bomba Estéreo.
Caifanes/ Jaguares
If you are from Uruguay please say your band name.
Delfín Quishpe – Torres Gemelas
Ecuador: Swing Original Monks
I’d say Aventura but I’m pretty sure they’re all from New York
In Venezuela I suppose it would be Caramelos de Cianuro
Internationally Soda Stereo. Inside Argentina, Los Piojos.
Probably el cuarteto de nos, no te va gustar or la vela puerca
Colombia is full of solo artists rn… but historically, and sticking to rock, Aterciopelados, and Los De Adentro…
Outside of rock, maybe Bomba Estereo?
