Who’s the rudest celebrity you’ve ever met?

Comments

  1. MeyerholdsGh0st Avatar

The rudest celebrities I have ever met don’t rank in the top 100 of the rudest people I’ve met. Celebrities are just regular people with public jobs, and usually they go out of their way to be warm, even when they’re having a shitty day.

  2. sjthedon22 Avatar

Vanessa Hudgens, farted in my face on an escalator

  3. r0botdevil Avatar

    Honestly I can’t think of a celebrity I’ve ever met that wasn’t really cool/nice.

  4. Future_Usual_8698 Avatar

Either Margaret Atwood or Vikram Seth, both authors- total assholes

  5. Thousandmantises Avatar

My dad claims Jeff Goldblum was incredibly rude to him one night in the mid nineties when he did food delivery in LA. The reason being most of the delivery drivers were cute girls who would receive big tips for flirting with the wealthy, but that night my dad was forced to make the deliveries.
Not my experience obviously but I don’t doubt it considering Jeff comes off as an ass.

  6. Shot-Way-2968 Avatar

Jeff Goldblum would allow pictures, autographs or eye contact. Forest Whitaker too.

  7. james-HIMself Avatar

Starts making up a fake story about a celebrity I don’t like

John Wick. I saw him at a gas station and complimented his car. He was just a rude twat

  11. ohio2az Avatar

I was at spring training for the then, Indians. Trevor Bauer was warming up and then walked up to a bunch of kids, put his hands up like he was going to sign autographs. A bunch of kids were holding sharpies and stuff to sign. He walked past like he didn’t see them, then smirked at the adults. Glad he got blackballed from baseball.

  12. DotResponsible4647 Avatar

I have a couple of cousins that went to high school with Luis Armand Garcia, (most well known as playing the titular characters son on George Lopez). They hated him, said almost nobody at the school liked him, that he was the most arrogant, narcissistic, and attention seeking person they had ever met.

  13. TheEschatonSucks Avatar

Former poker dealer, so kind of a poker specific celebrity but Johnny Chan, dude is an absolute piece of shit. Any shitty story you’ve ever heard about him is probably true.

For more general celebrities, Montel Williams and Jose Canseco both stand out as notable assholes

Mayweather is up there, but with him it’s in a more theatrical almost goofy kind of way

  14. clever_screename Avatar

    Kevin Fucking Costner.

  15. Brunoise6 Avatar

Sean Penn. Came to eat at the spot I was CDC at while he filmed around the block.

He sat with 4 people, and would ONLY talk to his assistant who would then tell the waitress what he wanted etc, wouldn’t even look at her.

    Fucking rude prick.

  16. bulldogs1974 Avatar

Scott Cam… entitled fuck even before his head blew up doing the Block!

  17. jawndell Avatar

Eminem.  I write him all the time and he never wrote me back.  I even waited in the blistering cold for 4 hours with my little brother to get his autograph and he just said “no”

  18. Philoporphyros Avatar

    Ralph Nader.

I was his press agent in Texas and he was an absolute prick. Arrogant. Rude. Entitled.

  19. jiqiren Avatar

Bill Nye. Absolutely a total asshole. Extremely condescending and rude even when being paid to interact with people. At UCSB he gave commencement address at my sister’s graduation. Afterwards he was to meet the new graduates for a short Q&A. Terrible experience for my sister and dad that tried to get a picture and ask a question.

  20. Usual-Journalist-246 Avatar

Lewis Capaldi. Delivered beer to him, asked for ID which was policy got the “do you know who I am” spiel off him. I genuinely didn’t know who he was before he reluctantly showed me his driving licence. I never received a tip and had to walk up shitloads of stairs to his flat in Glasgow.

  21. Powerful-District-31 Avatar

Will Smith. I was maybe 6 or 7 years old. At the time this dude was everything to me. MiB, Wild Wild West, etc. I had just won the game ball at my little league game and my parents pointed out that he was sitting in the crowd. Apparently he was there watching his nephew’s game or something. They told me to go ask him if he’d sign my game ball which I was hesitant and star struck at first but worked up the courage and went over. After saying hi and telling him I’m a huge fan, stumbling over my words, asked him if he could sign my baseball. He proceeded to tell me no, that if he signs it for me then he would have to start signing stuff for everybody. I walked away defeated and a bit embarrassed. He lost a fan that day. While I do understand his point of view as a celebrity now that I am an adult, it really hurt at the time. End rant.

I once saw Kevin hart at a Walmart and asked for a autograph.. he started shouting something like

” Not every short black man you see is Kevin hart ‘

  25. BigSaintJames Avatar

Chris Brown. He shows no respect to people whatsoever, at least he doesn’t when he’s high. I can’t say what he might act sober though.

I tried to say hi to Keegan Michael Key back in 2020 at a Biden rally. He just stared at me and walked off.

When I was a kid my parents sent me to a tennis camp thing and we got to meet a bunch of players that were in the Davis cup. On a couple of the days we got to have practice hits with a few of the players and Lleyton Hewitt was one of them. Absolute douche bag, as rude as could be to us.

Fortunately the others we got to meet were the exact opposite and appeared to be having fun hitting balls with a group of 12-13 year olds. Not all people are assholes but Lleyton Hewitt certainly is.

  29. TopBug5766 Avatar

I have several friends who went to college with Carrie Underwood and none of them have a kind thing to say about her.

  30. Octopod_Overlord Avatar

Rosario Dawson was rude as hell when I waited on her at a high-end restaurant in Boston years ago. Leslie Bibb, who was dining with her, was sweet as pie. A-Rod came in once after-hours and was such an entitled asshole, just a condescending prick who very clearly thought he was better than everyone around him. Jennifer Coolidge was fucking LOVELY and had great energy. Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer were insufferable and smug and deeply, deeply impressed with themselves. I didn’t recognize Big Papi as Big Papi and the fucking door forgot to say anything to me about it. He thought it was great when I was like hey, I think I know you from somewhere. Did you used to work the door at ___? His wife, however, was PISSED.

  31. alexlp Avatar

Not sure he counts as a celebrity but Peter who plays Brett from Kath and Kim. He came into my store in the airport at closing, delayed his flight just so he could hear his name on repeat and was just generally rude and entitled. I pretended not to know what he did for a living and he was so annoyed.

Lots of lovely celebs came through but he was so incredibly shitty it was a stand out. Chip Esten stands out as a very sweet random man without a big following in my country and was excited I knew his name 🤣

  32. patsfan5454 Avatar

Willy Mays – He was my dad’s boyhood hero. So he was appearing at a card show. I paid for a couple of items to be signed and a short meet and greet before the general public. My dad was so funny, he was nervous and excited to meet him. Long story short, we got into the room. My dad handed over the ball he wanted to sign. My father then told him about how much he loved him as a kid, etc etc. Mays never looked up, never made eye contact, nothing. Just “next”. My dad didn’t seem to be bothered and as we walked away I said to the top of this jerk offs head “you don’t have to be such a rude prick about it.” My dad passed last year and he always talked about how he met his hero, we buried him with the ball.

  33. transglutaminase Avatar

Kanye, and way before he went completely nuts so I can’t imagine how insufferable he would be now. I had many many interactions with him when I was working in a service industry role about 20 years ago.

  34. CarefulCantaloupe678 Avatar

Shameik Moore. Met him at a comic con and he was just rude on every level. Refused to talk or make eye contact

  35. Agent101g Avatar

Shemar Moore. He thinks he’s god’s gift to the world. Took his shirt off in a shopping mall during a soap opera cast Q and A, and nobody asked him to. I was nearby hanging out at my mom’s kiosk (she was working as an apartment manager to rent apartments right next to the mall) and saw it all. That was before CSI, back when he was on soap operas. He wouldn’t let Sharon or Jesse get a single word out, just dominated the whole thing. I don’t remember much from the soaps but I remember the character names. I think Moore played someone named Malcolm.

  36. His-Royalbadness Avatar

My friend met Val Kilmer, he was a fucking cunt.

My friends went to one of his speaking tours back in like 09. This was a Q&A format, so people were there to ask him questions presumably about his career. My friend is first up, and before he gets a question, Val interrupts him and tries to get my friend to put in a little Japanese girls voice while asking his question. My friend doesn’t budge, but Val just keeps insisting. There’s a lot of back and forth because Val won’t stop, and my friend won’t bow to this asshole so Val just asks him to sit down.

I should also add that my friend was like 19 at this point in time, Val is bullying a teenager, and he was like 50.

The entire time, Val looked like he didn’t want to be there. Someone even asked if he liked the Doors music before he took the role. Val’s response?

“I didn’t like their music at all, I just took that role for the money.”

I’ve heard him talk about playing Jim in the past, and it sounded like a passion project, so I guess he just felt like being an asshole on this day.

I get sometimes not wanting to interact with fans, but this was HIS FUCKING SPEAKING TOUR. What was he expecting?

On the flip side, my uncle worked on Queen Latifa’s house. He said she was really nice.

  37. Chopper3 Avatar

A British, dead, celebrity called Cilla Black – horrible to everyone in the UK TV industry, it caught up her eventually and her career just ended overnight, proper nasty piece of work

  38. Ill-Aardvark6734 Avatar

Reese Witherspoon.. waited on her in Nashville and at first did not recognize her and she was a total bitch. So incredibly rude ..

  39. Ill-Aardvark6734 Avatar

Oh and Nicole Kidman is a bitch too..very impressed with herself. I really despise all celebrities

  40. Ill-Aardvark6734 Avatar

Johnny Cash was one of the nicest people around. Also: I met Lisa Marie Presley years ago and she was very nice and down to earth.

  41. Heidels223 Avatar

Pete Rose. Was nasty to my 12 year old son who asked for an autograph in the airport. Same trip, different airport Joe Namath could not have been nicer to him. Mid 90s

  42. KeiylaPolly Avatar

Beth Chapman, wife of Dawg “The Bounty Hunter.” I was in a call center, she needed her dishwasher repaired. I wasn’t even supposed to get the call- I’m not in customer service. Apparently customer service didn’t know wtf to do with her either, so they cold-transferred her to me. She wanted a repair guy out NOW. Mind you, this is in Hawaii and there were like 10 technicians total for all appliances, on the entire island she lived on, and they were all booked two weeks out. She was not taking no for an answer, and screamed at the top of her lungs, swearing and cursing at me. (Side note- you can tell a native from a non-native Hawaiian by how chill they are. A native Hawaiian is like, “Ok, cousin, whenever you can fit me in is fine.”)

I ended up scheduling a guy to go out on overtime, with his and his manager’s permission, two days later. Calling her up to tell her the guy was on his way was a second treat, where I got my ear blasted for being rude, inconsiderate, not helpful, and called every name in the book. Technician I sent out got another earful. I made sure he got to go home early that Friday as an apology.

I heard from a lot of celebrities and their assistants back in those days. You know who was awesome? Charo. I had to schedule a half a day every time she had her stuff serviced, because my techs wouldn’t leave. Apparently she put out a full spread every time they visited.

  43. PerAsperaAdInfiri Avatar

Used to wait tables in the 90s

David Cassidy was an asshole. Absolutely a prick to his fans and everyone else around him.

David Lee Roth, BB King and Sinbad were all lovely people.

  44. PuzzleheadedOil1560 Avatar

I didn’t talk to her, but it was my job to make sure nobody came within 10 feet of cher.

  45. viciousdeliciouz Avatar

    Steffi Graf.

It honestly wasn’t even that bad. She acted how I would act if I was having a bad day. We were seated behind her at a practice match of Andre Agassi. My little brother asked her for an autograph and she reach back without turning her head, took the ball and signed it, and returned the ball without saying a word or looking at us. She was obviously annoyed lol. I don’t really fault her, it was just kind of sad because my brother was such a fan.

Afterwards, Andre Agassi came up and patted my brother in the head and said “Hey little due!” And signed his ball. Couldn’t have been nicer. Polar opposite interactions lol

  46. ballsosteele Avatar

Jenna Coleman came to a local convention and as you’d expect, people were bringing her fanart and other Doctor Who memorabilia. Stuff they’d put their souls into, that kind of thing.

Almost the minute the con closed, she shoved it all in the bin, almost literally shoving it off her table with one sweeping movement in front of everyone.

I’m not saying she should have kept and treasured every last piece but at least have the tact and to throw it in the bin backstage or when nobody is looking.

  47. KathAlMyPal Avatar

My son worked at a high end hotel in our city. Said Chris Rock was absolutely the biggest dick ever. Rude, dismissive and arrogant. He was followed up by Buzz Aldrin. Nicest celeb? Aubrey Plaza.

  48. Tangerina-1367 Avatar

Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear UK), he shoo shoo’d my daughter away like a dirty fly. She was around 5-6 years old at the time and plucked up so much courage to ask for a photograph.

We were guests at a car show event, so everyone was sitting around in the lounge. His co-host Richard Hammond watched the whole thing, was mortified, scooped my daughter up with hugs, made her laugh, and took lovely photos! Richard is a gem. I had a good chance to observe Jeremy Clarkson’s general behavior to servers and staff, etc, and can say he is rubbish. Also, his face in real life looks like a rotten piece of gammon ham, ugly inside and out.

  49. Salome_Maloney Avatar

Vic Reeves (Jim Moir) . Seriously up himself, I was surprised to find. He and his comedy partner Bob Mortimer were at my store for a book-signing session, and they both really showed their true colours. Reeves acted like a spoilt child; nothing was good enough for him, the painstakingly prepared buffet was ‘shit’ and there was no way he was going to be making small talk with the plebs staff. No. He was going to go and sit in that* office til we were ready for the book-signing. Now, grateful as I was for a little respite from the surly sod, that was MY bloody office!

*Bob Mortimer was absolutely brilliant. So friendly and funny – he had all the staff in stitches with his running commentary and taking the piss out of Vic, yet he also took the time to have a quiet word with a staff member who had been humiliated by Reeves and was really upset. He even helped the staff to move piles of books, saying it was infinitely preferable to waiting in the office with HIM.

Anne Rice and Armistead Maupin were pretty rude, too.

  50. rwp82 Avatar

I had just started working at a pharmacy and am actor from CSI Miami came in to pick up something and got pissy about it not being ready yet and pulled the “Do you know who I am” card. I, in fact, did not know who he was. I replied that I was sorry, I was new there and didn’t know all the regulars yet but his script would be done in 10 minutes.

He looked kind of deflated after that reply and wandered off. It wasn’t until he was gone that someone told me who he was. Never watched the show myself.

  51. CuppaMatt Avatar

    William Shatner.

Once queued to see him at a con, my grandparents got me into Trek when I was younger and I was going to get an autographed photo for me and them. He charged more than anyone else at the con for autographs, was clearly amazingly disinterested, wouldn’t interact with people much and you had to hand your photo to one of his handlers that would hand it to him to sign then pass to a second handler to pass to you. Never seen that for any other celebrity at that event. Honestly he looked hungover. I ended up getting a photo for my grandparents but I was no longer fussed.

Have read a lot of similar tales over the years since then as well as other horror stories from people he’s worked with over the years.

  52. AlaDouche Avatar

Lisa Loeb was straight up fucking mean to me and my coworkers when we were working with her on a filming project. I’ll never be simultaneously so pissed off and blown away that someone who is so past their prime could act that way.

  53. AdeptnessNo6431 Avatar

    Conan O’Brien
    Jerry Remy
    Nicolas Cage
    Casey Affleck
    Kevin Bacon
    Peter Wolf
    Michael Bivens

All very very nice. Conan and Jerry Remy were the nicest by far, Jerry Remy talked to me for 15 minutes, he didn’t have to. I was working at his house and he was just a super nice guy. I’m from Boston and we all love and miss Jerry Remy.

I’ve never met a rude celebrity.

  54. Patient-Bed-3263 Avatar

Phillip schofield, vile, arrogant, nasty, condescending piece of shit. He thought he was the bees knees and he made sure everyone around him felt like a piece of shit. I enjoyed watch him lose ot all.

  55. hoodookitty Avatar

99% of the actors I have met are lovely humans who work incredibly hard. That being said Chevy Chase was exactly as described in the stories that are told about him.

(Oh, and Amandla Stenberg was an entitled snot.)

I work in film, formerly as a sound mixer, and I went to go put a mic on Tommy Lee Jones for an interview. He knew he was getting mic’d up, I’d just finished setting up the boom pole, I had the mic in my hand and as I approached to introduce myself and put it on him he said well here you go, put his empty coffee cup in my hand and walked away. I tried to reengage 3 times and everytime he just talked over me and ignored me. Like dude, I’m just trying to do my job.

    Cher

Many years ago I spent a summer working as a night concierge at a fancy hotel in London. Over that summer I interacted with several famous people – a few that come to mind are Tony Bennett, the members of Metallica, Alan Alda, Sarah Ferguson (she was still the Duchess of York at the time).

Cher was by far the most unpleasant celebrity I dealt with. She was in London promoting the release of the movie “Mermaids”. As a night concierge, one of my responsibilities was to take room service calls after 10pm. One night after I had been off duty for a couple days I answered the room service line and it was Cher. She identified her room number, but her voice was immediately recognizable. She proceeded to order chocolate truffle cake and berate me for the fact that the hotel restaurant didn’t have the cake the previous night (when I was off duty). She cursed me out and threatened to immediately check out of the hotel if we didn’t have the cake.

I was polite and got off the call as quickly as I could. I walked down the kitchen to hand deliver the order. Fortunately they had some cake left.

To this day I loathe her – no other guest treated me so rudely that summer.

  59. Express-Risk-4129 Avatar

Met Weird Al for a few minutes while he was signing autographs after a show in… 99? He was as nice as I could have hoped for, seemed generally interested in talking to me (i was 15 or 16 at the time) and thought it was hilarious I had asked him to sign my Star Wars fanclub card (my friend had him sign his bartending license, which I thought was much funnier)

10/10 would meet Weird Al again

  60. Nervous_Judge_5565 Avatar

Danny Glover.. didn’t meet him but watched him have the most embarrassing public outburst going through an airport. Cringe level 1000.

  61. Ave_Domine_Inferne Avatar

I’ve met a handful of rockstars. The rudest and most prickish was Scott Ian of Anthrax. He doesn’t speak to fans and seems really impressed with himself. Charlie Benante, however, was super cool and down to earth.
But, by far, the nicest rockstar I’ve ever met was Jason Newstead. Super nice. Extremely appreciative of his fans. And he has no problems with chatting with you, taking a picture or signing an autograph.

  62. Funktackular Avatar

Michael Jordan. Ate at a steakhouse I worked at racked up a 6000 dollar bill and left me and my coworker zero. Fucking Zero. Needless to say I took that personally.

I worked production for some televised awards shows & other live events for a time.

Terrence Howard. Had to listen to him berate his own assistants and our staff at an awards show (the DAY before the show) because he couldn’t have extra tickets for his friends. Not like the seats are assigned & charted well in advance because they’re on live camera.

Henry Winkler takes the cake for the most engaging and animated person I immediately could tell was so authentic and lovely. He used to bring his mom back stage every year before one of the shows, and after my FIRST year being there and hanging out with them, he remembered my name the next year.

I also once had to help Jonathan Banks from breaking bad out of the staff door to just get a water bottle & a breath of fresh air, and he spent 20 minutes asking really interesting and thoughtful questions me about my life.

Elizabeth Shue – years ago I was at a gymnastics meet in Irving, TX. A few dads and I were talking when one of them said the lady in the bleachers down from us was Elizabeth Shue. I said no way, what the hell would she be doing here. Anyway, we made a bet and I went over and asked her after she put her camera down. I said I’m sorry to bother you but are ES. She said yes, I replied with thank you and I won’t bother you again. She was very nice and took pictures with a couple of the parents.

Matt Damon. He threw a whole tantrum because his kid didn’t fit the safety height requirement at Racers in Disneyland’s California Adventure. It was so embarrassing and he threw out the “do you know who I am” to all of us working. Very disappointing! 😭

  66. WakingOwl1 Avatar

Steven Tyler. He used to shop in a gourmet store I worked in in Boston and I always thought he was a bit of a dick. Julia Child on the other hand was delightful.

Kat Von D way back in the mid-2000s. Worked at the airport. She thought she was above security. Like… lady, if you think you’re above it, fly private.

Cameron Diaz was the same way.

Thankfully, having Vince Vaughn come through, nice as can be, made up for the two of them.

  69. donttouchmygelsmate Avatar

Tim Burton and Chris Brown. I met them in a professional setting on different occasions. Both very arrogant, full of themselves and straight up abusive.

worked at the flagship Borders Books and Music store in chicago until the bitter end. met a ton of celebrities over the years. 99% were always really nice and down to earth. I think one of the best memories/interactions was Robin Williams.

My worst interaction was easily Spike Lee. Borders had gone bankrupt and we were liquidating the entire store. It was a mess. Spile Lee came in and was super short and rude to the employees. He was on the media floor, which was a nightmare due to liquidation sales. He asked where our Criterion section was. I told him we didnt really have one anymore. He audibly scoffed. He browsed around, and then asked if we had a copy of Hoop Dreams. I said the computer to show stock really wasnt accurate anymore, but I looked anyway. Told him we didnt have a copy of Hoop Dreams, and he scoffed again. said “you dont have a copy of Hoop Dreams? I cant believe you dont have a copy of Hoop Dreams. How do you not have Hoop Dreams, all this other stuff, but no Hoop Dreams” and I am like- well we are going out of business, and he says- yea I can see that. so, i add- Yeah, and it has been crazy. I am sure we did but it sold and we arent getting any new stock. He mumbled some shit talk to himself and was super annoyed. I asked if I could help with anything else, and he just ignored me and walked away.

he was wearing this bright orange puffy jacket. when he left, i met up with a co worker and he was like- yo you were talking to Spike Lee? how was that. and i said- yea he was a total condescending dick. fuck that dude and his stupid ass orange jacket.

the next morning he was on some daytime TV show promoting whatever he was promoting. and he commented that Chicago folks are rough and mentioned how everyone has been making fun of his orange jacket.
