Why are most men so against getting yearly checkups and going to the doctor consistently?

To add to that, going to therapy, or taking medication for anxiety.

In my life this has been a constant issue. My partners and dad were so reluctant or defensive about it.

It’s hard watching someone you love refuse to go to the doctor, at the very least annually, and have issues with health.

Because the medical industry is broken, I engage with it as little as possible.

My mom is like that, she bragged so much how she felt healthy and strong for her whole life but for the past 5 years she started to fall apart. Both mental and physical health are a complete mess, and at 79 she looks like 99.

Personally, I just can’t afford it. I avoid doctors unless it’s a life or death issue

Most meh don’t want to be a bother because every day thier families/partners make them feel like a bother just for existing. Most of us want to pass leaving behind enough that the ones left won’t curse them for dying penniless.

In the US, it can take awhile to get an appointment, the appointment may or may not be expensive depending on your insurance, and (assuming you have no genuine concerns) the doc is just going to say some variation of, “you should lose some weight, exercise more, and drink/smoke/take edibles less.” If you’re sexually active, it’s “wear a condom and do you want to get checked?”

That’s just not worth it for a lot of guys.
